Title: Litecoin mining with undervolting Asus R9 290x - 4GD5 Post by: jirkalada on December 11, 2013, 04:52:32 PM Hi,
anyone has experience with undervolting Asus R9 290x - 4GD5. It is possible to undervolt with Asus GPU Tweak application, but it seems to me that this program does this only for one card (I have 4 in my rig). My max. hasrate is 890 khps but cards draw 389W each (total W consumption / [number of 290x cards]). Anyone has setting for good hasrate with lower consumption? You've got bigger problems to worry about than undervolting if you're only pulling 890 kH out of 290x's. I have the 290 non x, and am getting a steady 893 for over a week solid right now with zero restarts to my operation. On that note, GPU tweak is trash. You need to install afterburner and use that. I look forward to the day getting this thing beyond 885kh. With two r9 290x, I pull at the wall 650ish watts. I used AB, 0 powertune and lowered the voltage by -37
Hynix is far superior for hashing Title: Re: Litecoin mining with undervolting Asus R9 290x - 4GD5 Post by: goin2mars on January 13, 2014, 04:45:39 AM I'm not sure if I've ever heard of 290x's getting sub-900 max hashes before tonight even w/ the non hynix ram, and I've done a whole lot of reading and messing w/ configs for the 290 non x's. Either way, have you taken a look at this link?
http://rumorscity.com/2013/12/03/litecoin-gpu-mining-with-amd-r9-290-and-r9-290x-sweet-spot-for-1000khashsec/ It's what I used as a base to get my 290's where they're at. I'm sorry that I can't vouch for this person's recommendation about the 290x's, but can definitely vouch for the recommendation about the 290 config. I have pointed a few people w/ 290x's at that link before and they've had positive results. Of course these were brand new miners so they didn't have a chance to tune their rigs fully yet. |
