This is just my opinion, i know some may disagree but realistically when it comes to PREORDERS i think those are the only 2 companies I would trust and seem to have a good chance of delivering on time.

I know i want to order 1 but just cannot decide which to get, below is my pro and con list, i am hoping the community can offer some advise which preorder to get?

KNC Nepture 3TH $13,000 Q1/Q2 start of delivery

PRO:
1) Proven track record, already delivered 28nm ASICs
2) 20nm lower watts/gh

CON:
1) ~30% more expensive than CoinTerra
2) Open ended delivery date of Q1/Q2 and it says start of delivery, meaning if you order now it could be even later

CoinTerra TerraMiner IV 2TH $6000 End of April delivery

PRO:
1) ~30% cheaper
2) Set delivery by end of april

CON:
1) Has not delivered anything, despite having a good team on paper
2) 28 nm instead of 20nm - higher watts/gh


What are your thoughts?  which to get?

the 20/28nm power difference is still to be demonstrated as a big difference, theoretically yes, a difference, but in the real world, I don't think its going to be so noticeable.

KNC has delivered a working 28nm ASIC miner to the masses.
Cointerra has delivered nothing.

Easy choice.

It's a gamble. Basically KNC is the safer bet, CoinTerra is the riskier one (with more reward). That's all it comes down to.

I lean towards CoinTerra because in the world of BFL's 'pre-orders coming in 2 weeks', KNC's reliability can not be understated. Cointerra is unproven at this point.

After waiting 3 months for my Avalon to arrive I'm personally never doing preorders, but ya, KNC is about as reliable as they get and much better bet than many other makers, such as Avalon.

HashFast is your best bet, if you wish to order the newest state-of-the-art ASIC which actually exists.

If you prefer to speculate on the success/failure of vaporware, by all means throw your money at the box-of-fans vendors.

HashFast is just a "box of fans" until they deliver... which they haven't.

are you on HasFash advertising pay check? seems like that's the only company you support.

All 3 look promising.

If you are able too get 1 from all 3.

Diversify your mining horizon to mitigate risk.

That might be a wise hedge.  All three seem pretty legitimate.  Be advised though, a late batch preorder will probably not be delivered until April from any of these three companies.

i dont see the point of considering hashfast, it has a delivery date at end of march which is similar to cointerra, cost almost 2x as much, and seem a less organized company than the other 2.  Am i missing something?

In that case either they will need to cut prices or they won't sell units.  Honestly for delivery that far out all three have insane prices.

Have you considered Bitmine.ch? 

They have just announced a 3 week delay on their ASICs, but that only affects batch 1 orders (which closed 31 Oct 2013).

You're missing the obnoxiously dark ignore button on iCEBREAKER.

I would agree to this statement, but with the following caveats:

Avalon delivered Batch1.  People made money.  Batch 3 was a ~40BTC loss.  So past performance isn't a guarantee of future profits...

20nm is pretty small.  Remember Intel is at 22nm and has had problems at 14nm.  What trouble could KnC find at 20nm?

If I follow the "has delivered in the past" logic heck I would choose BlackArrow over Cointerra at least they had an FPGA that worked!

As others have said, split your risks.  Order one of each  ;)
