Title: How do I add BTC to my BTC wallet?
Post by: Goal on December 11, 2013, 09:50:06 PM
Ok, I recently bought some bitcoin off coinbase.com, it says the transaction will take 4 days, but it also sent me $5 of bitcoin as a gift for first purchase. My question is, how do I send the bitcoin to my actual bitcoin wallet?

It depends, where you have it. It's a online account like blockchain or official client on desktop? But most easly just type your wallet adress in place for withdraw on that page where you bought bitcoins.

On Coinbase ,There is a "send" button or something equivalent to that, click on it. Enter you actual bitcoins address. confirm. and you should get it there soon.
I am sure there are instructions for sending/receiving on the FAQ or tutorials section of site.

By "actual bitcoin wallet" do you mean a desktop client? If so, just open the client and under the "receive" tab you'll find your address for that wallet. Then go to Coinbase and send it to that address - the coins should show up in your desktop wallet within an hour, and probably within a few minutes  ;D

Coinbase is an online wallet, so you have the bitcoins in your wallet but they are online, which is considered less safer so you might want to make a paper wallet or a desktop client like Multibit or full fledged QT if you don't mind downloading 14gb of blockchain  :)
