It doesn't get much bigger than this. The prize for this tournament is 12 BTC, which at the time of writing exchanges for over $10,000. This would be a large prizepool for your average tournament but it is the largest prizepool for a single showmatch in Starcraft 2 history. This prizepool has been provided by bitcoin enthusiasts and companies who wish to represent and promote the growth of the cryptocurrency.

Date and Time :- Saturday, 21st December - 12pm EST

Format :- Best of 7. Map pool TBA.

Casters :- TotalBiscuit and forthcoming guest commentator

Stream :- http://www.twitch.tv/totalbiscuit

VoDs :- http://www.youtube.com/totalbiscuit

As a showcase of how easy to use and fast bitcoin is the 'caster and organiser @totalbiscuit will pay the winner his prize on live streaming right after the match ends...  I can't wait to see thousands of viewers going "wow, that took 5 seconds! I gotta try out this Bitcoin thing".

Incidentally, someone put together a BitBet (http://bitbet.us/bet/660/scarlett-to-win-starcraft-2-showmatch-against-naniwa/?ref=1E8MkRHhBNr9X29QUN2YkMxezesrEyGhSZ) for this match, odds in favor of Scarlett atm.

Wow.. just the teamliquid announcement thread has 70.000+ views!
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/index.php?show_part=36

I think we can expect the streaming channels and youtube videos to have a huge impact. It looks like the SC2 community is as active as the Bitcoin community, and far more numerous.

If pro SC2 players and casters start getting into BTC, it's going to be huge.

This is a pretty awesome way to promote BTC. If gamers can finally get in on it on a mass scale... It would help a Hell of a lot!

Go Scarlett?

Well it looks like Naniwa won the series. The caster sent him the bitcoins live on stream in front of about 40k viewers... you can see the transaction here:

@totalbiscuit
https://blockchain.info/address/1MirYx1xCN8erPPwKMBAqJZPoqvUmnpiSf

@NaNiwaSC2   (got 11.2 BTC for winning)
https://blockchain.info/address/182GHTrbefjZndqeTC1wjC88XS1UKuFvSK

@AcerScarlett   (will get 2.8 BTC)
https://blockchain.info/address/1EpCMs6D5aQ3f2P8m2uiy2yAUAwE37gFhv

As of right now the official thread has 205k+ views
The live stream reached a peak of 40k+ viewers, and averaged about 35k, unique viewers was 143k on the English channel, but it was also cast in several other languages...

...and we can probably expect the replays to get at least 300k views on multiple Youtube channels...

So visibility for Bitcoin and the sponsors was pretty good...  I expect we'll see more Bitcoin-Starcraft interaction in the future.

DotA. I'll try contacting a few people.
We should try contacting some known teams and organize some sort of tournament. Anyone else interested?
