The Winklevoss twins said Bill Gates to put your money where your mouth is. The statement is in response to Gates comments on shorting Bitcoin.

I think he should bet against the future value of bitcoins and see whether he is going to lose or win but I seriously believe that he is going to lose though but that wouldn’t put even a dent in his fortune.

The Winklevoss brothers are the first bitcoin billionaires and they put a large amount of their asset in bitcoin as they believe bitcoin has a good future. Bill Gates was first having a good thought on bitcoin and was even planning to integrate bitcoin with microsoft excel features but with the price of bitcoin going down tremendously Gates have changed his mind about how he thinks of bitcoin.

This was to be expected, Bill Gates talks a lot of talk but never walks the walk.
+1 for the Winklevosses, not only for the comment but also for their support and believe in bitcoin in a early stage (not the earliest but still).

what can i say? it was clear that the statement of bill gates does not stop there. but i see it the same way as the winklevoss brothers.

The statement of Winklevoss is right because he invested money in bitcoin so he know and understand the benefits of bitcoin so he also a billionaire likes Bill gates. I think he also working on internet and his business also internet based so he should think about crypto currenys future and how beneficial for people to trading in business also easier to them. There is restriction free, secure trading only in bitcoin who giving this types of facilities.

Not sure why the winklevoss twins are potentially goading somebody who could absolutely collapse the entire bitcoin network if he really wanted to. I mean, it's actually not that hard for billionaires, governments and certain corporations.

Bill Gates previously said a lot of good stuff about Bitcoin. But when Bitcoin price started falling he stepped back from his word.On the other hand, Winklevoss twins always believed in Bitcoin and invested a lot time to time. It's kind of right on their part to say so.

You're overestimating Gates, a man that thinks that if you aren't producing anything you should have no value. He's a communist at heart. You have to contribute to society or you're a waste of space. I hate such people and I also don't value Gates since he made some idiotic statements in the past like that one about 32 bit systems.
How could he collapse the network if he doesn't even know how to short BTC and finds it difficult :D

I think Winklevoss brothers are trying to tell Bill Gates to concentrate on his stronghold and stop interfering in matters he has little knowledge of. If he has no believe in bitcoin, he should allow those with maximum interest to mine their business.

I'm not in neither sides but honestly, the Winklevoss twins are right;
. They are the ones who have invested tons in bitcoin yet here comes Mr. Gates talking out loud without having spent a single dime on cryptocurrencies. I admire the man (Gates) for doing humanitarian work but seriously he needs to stop laying his hands on subjects he don't have a clear understanding of. Whatever works, I guess. Bitcoin still gains the ultimate attention at the end of the day.

I don’t think Gates has the time or could be bothered to get involved in a silly battle of wits. He’s a bit like Warren Buffett in the sense that he’s uber rich & will always be sceptical of anything new that he doesn’t fully understand.
He won’t have the motivation or drive to replicate what he’s already done.

Gate needs to take his time and study bitcoin/cryptocurrency full well and try to understand the market as well. as I can remember gate was very much in support of BTC way back not until he starts to have wrong motives towards BTC lately.

I expect Bill Gate to understudy the details about the technology behind Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and not just condemn the platform,sure many of the riches people in the world will be overthrown by Bitcoin investors globally in few years to come.

That was my first thought as well. It seemed like Tyler Winklevoss was just being provocative.

Then again, Gates actually said, "I would short it if there was an easy way to do it." That's a pretty dumb thing to say, given that regular retail traders can easily short CME futures on E-Trade, etc.

I'm guessing Bill doesn't want to short BTC for more sensible reasons...

Bill Gates were a supporter of bitcoin early on but gradually lost interest due to the fallen price maybe. I rally appreciare what Winklevoss said.He is a He is a billionaire and founder Gemini crypto exchange and has explained the matter too well as a reply of Bill Gates twit saying the money should be put where the mouth is.

Now a day’s people are more serious about where they are investing. People have a positive mindset about bitcoin so if any person wants to decrease bitcoin popularity it can't work.

Good comment by Winklevoss. They know better the future of bitcoin and already made a lot by investing here. But Bill Gate's turning from bitcoin made him disappointed and thus made this kind of complement.

Message aside Bill Gates is tough enough, but fair! The community of investors is divided into two sides - Light and Dark. The first side to protect Bitcoin, and the second side to criticize!

Anyone know how much bitcoin they own?  I don't think I've read anything about that lately, or the twins for that matter.  Regardless, it's pretty brazen for them to challenge Gates et al like they did.  On the other hand, I can respect Gates's position that bitcoin should be shorted.  Anyone who was watching the market when bitcoin hit 20k could probably predict that it got inflated far too fast, and shorting was an obvious thing to do at that point.  He isn't stupid by any means.

It is good for bitcoin that it has supporters like the Winklevosses after all these years.  It has got to be tough to have so much in it when the price has dropped so hard.  Can't even imagine how much they've lost in the past year, unless they've hedged it somehow.

Definitely your correct bill gates are scared to invest in bitcoin after bitcoin price collapse the price in the market in almost 6 months gates announce bitcoin become die, but in other of my opinion either gates make some fakes news for bitcoin  the first digital decentralized cryptocurrency before he buy a lot of bitcoin as their investment he wait the totally bitcoin dumping in very cheaper value and waiting again the price increase in this strategy he can get huge of profits.

Bill Gates is friends iwth Warren Buffet and the banking elites,  Of course Gates would be against bitcoin.  These financial institutions like mastercard are in big trouble in the future with the rise of bitcoin coming to the mainstream.

It shows the huge difference in opinion in thinking about bitcoin between the two successful people.

I wasn't expecting this anyway! well, kudos to Winklevoss brothers for consistent support, Honestly speaking Gates is bitten more than he can chew. I hope we will get some silence from him!
I have always love Gates for his support to humanitarian, I hope he takes the advice and his mouth where his money is.  

Bill Gates is wealthy. Not necessarily due to him having the best business sense though considering he tried to dump his shares of microsoft for other financial assets which would have been worthless in comparison.  This quote sums it up well.

I never expected a celebrity callout over this. Bitcoin could use a few good ambassadors and spokespersons, maybe the Winklevoss Twins could excel in this role. Bitcoin and crypto currencies desperately need a face, an image, a symbol--something that is positive for people to associate bitcoin with. Name brand recognition goes a long way but someone who isn't a criminal, drug dealer, money launderer or assorted negative job description being involved with bitcoin could be exactly what it needs.

I think when it comes to investments, we can rely on the winklevoss twins rather than bill gates, since both twins knows a good investment when they see one, an example of this is facebook,they know that it can can change the world, but the real creator is mark zuckerberg, but I really think that the idea had came from the twins to make it global, mark just know how to do it, and aside from faceboook, both twins before had declared that they were the first billionaires in bitcoin, with that being said, that means they had already invested in bitcoin even way before it had reached 1000 usd or probably 100 usd, but as for bill gates, he know how to be rich by becoming an entrepreneur, and sometimes he has bad decision for the future, they can dominate smart phones today if only he had released the technology before, since he had created the first tablet, so there is a reason why both twins can say "put your money where mouth is" to bill gates.

As a shepherd, would you rather watched your herd being devoured by a Wolf or fight tooth and nail to rescue them? The "Old Guards" are the wolves trying to pull down the threshold of the blockchain. We all know that negative comments from such heavy weights could easily destroy or destabilize the crypto industry. It's a good thing the kids aren't even smiling with them.

Although I don't support the position of Bill Gates in this matter, but it is unacceptable to talk with him so rude! It's a big man, no one's brothers compared to him.
