Title: [ANN] Cointerest: Yelp for Bitcoin. Local businesses, ratings, and more.
Post by: overseerio on December 12, 2013, 07:31:18 PM
The explosion of Bitcoin-accepting businesses worldwide (thanks to wonderful companies like Bitpay, Coinbase, and Coinmap) has created a need for much better location- and category-based filtering tools. The last week or so, we've been working hard to create a solution.

We'd like to introduce Cointerest (http://cointerest.org/), the Yelp for Bitcoin!

With Cointerest, you can:
  • See the top businesses in an area
  • Filter businesses by category
  • Easily add a business by right-clicking on the map
  • Send a permalink to any business on the map, e.g. http://cointerest.org/map#/coupa-cafe/52aa096c956937ea30c9c2b4

Please let us know what you think -- we really want to create the best experience possible, and would love to hear your suggestions and comments!

Here's the link: http://cointerest.org

Thanks a lot! Do you have any suggestions for how we can make the experience even better?

There are at least 100 fake listings. I was wondering why S. Africa was such a bitcoin hotbed. What I found was that there are about 100 listings that are just road names.

All fake! I think the site owner should do some basic checks...

Thanks for letting me know! I've added manual approval for all submitted listings.

In the next update: I'll be programmatically pushing all manually approved listenings to OpenStreetMap.

Is this site/map still being managed? How can you remove locations that are closed?
