Title: bitcoinprices.js - have human-friendly Bitcoin prices on any web page
Post by: miohtama on December 13, 2013, 10:18:16 PM
I'd like to introduce you to my weekend project, bitcoinprices.js:

http://miohtama.github.io/bitcoin-prices/index.html (http://miohtama.github.io/bitcoin-prices/index.html)

bitcoinprices.js is a JavaScript library for human-friendly Bitcoin price presentation and conversion.
bitcoinprices.js can be dropped on your web page. It presents the Bitcoin prices in the fiat currency chosen by the user,
making prices friendly to read. bitcoinprices.js works on any HTML page.

The project was born out from the frustration, because many small Bitcoin eCommerce sites have prices only in raw BTC.
This makes it very hard for an average eCommerce site user to value the sold items.

The exchange rates data is sourced from bitcoinaverage.com (http://bitcoinaverage.com), but this can be easily changed.

Kudos for bitcoinaverage.com guys for the great service.

See the source code on Github:

Excellent work. And great to stick the code on GitHub. I'm still staggered with people that launch something bitcoin-related, don't release the source code and expect people to just "trust them"

Title: Drupal + UberCart + BitPay prices with clickable currency conversion
Post by: miohtama on April 03, 2014, 07:44:08 AM
Hi,

Some updates. bitcoinprices.js now supports pricing your products in USD, EUR and other fiat and then converting those to BTC in-fly. This makes it dead simple to drop to any eCommerce site which wants show prices in Bitcoin or converted to your native currency.

Here is a Drupal + UberCart store Time For Plan B selling Bitcoin stuff: http://timeforplanb.org/store (click Show Prices in BTC). Only Bitcoin payment is available. They use BitPay for the checkouts.

Drupal is a popular PHP-based content management system. UberCart is its eCommerce addon. Now bitcoinprices.js have been adapted for those.

I have also updated README for instructions for UberCart in integration:

Great job! please contact us if you need anything specific from our API, version 2 is on its way so if you need something custom do let us know.

Suggestion - change the ticker URL to pull our global average, this will then support 170+ global currencies if that's something you think the users of this would appreciate :)
