Title: New to Bitcoin
Post by: dionforpresident on December 15, 2013, 03:41:32 AM
Hi everyone. I've known about Bitcoin for a few months now and just recently decided to see what it was all about. I got a wallet (Multibit) and did a few surveys online for some free coins just to get started before I use my own money. I'd like a few recommendations though and a little info. Which is the best wallet to use and are they all basically the same thing? And how long does it take for Bitcoins to show up in my wallet after completing something like a survey or a buying coins myself? Also, what's the whole QR code thing in my wallet supposed to do?

If you use a local wallet make sure you secure it.  It you use an online service make sure to use Multi Factor Authentication.

QR Codes simply encode the long address into something that another computer (or mobile device) can decode so you do not need to type it in.

I am also using multibit it is ok for me. Some sites pay bitcoins for surveys etc. They don't pay instantly it takes some time or days.
