That's not balls of steel. That's having a minimum of common sense.

Holding as well. 90% of my coins are stored offline, 10% are on exchanges. Sent in some new fiat as well to catch the bottom, missed the $500s sadly but I will catch the next dip into the 600s or 700s. :)

Balls of steel or too greedy?

People selling coins so they can buy back cheaper to increase their BTC total = greedy. People not selling their coins because they believe the value will shoot up higher again sooner or later = common sense.

In a bear market, the opposite is true. Uber-bulls are greedy and will have to sell even lower. Bears are the ones with common sense.

I strongly disagree and it has little to with bulls or bears. I can feel bearish at a particular moment and still think holding bitcoins makes the most sense. Or I can be bullish but still decide to secure some profits and sell a few bitcoins. In bitcoin, bear markets always turn out to be bear traps. They are unpredictable and often don't last as long as people think (2011 is the exception, but in the end still a sound decision if you held). So who's actually the one with common sense here looking at history? Also it can be disputed whether we are actually in a bear market right now, but that's just semantics.

24%BTC
5% LTC
1 % Assorted shitcoins I forgot to sell.
70% fiat

"never go full fiat"

I picked up a few more btc today because the last down movement was weak and there seem to be sneaky buyers everywhere and very nice bid depth.

Me too. No fiat at exchanges but waiting for daily maximum $9k deposit to clear at Virtex. Paid on Thursday. Should be ready tomorrow.

Virtex says 2-3 business days, but they also said 3-5 business days for account verification and it took me well over a month.

Hold the flashcrash for another day or two please. I'd hate to get fewer than 10 more coins for my $9k.

Moar coinz pleez.

Holding BTC (95% cold storage). Mining other altcoins an holding them till they spike and then sell them for more BTC.

yep, now is the period of some stability, so actually quite a good time for commerce - buy gifts for xmas with bitcoins.

selling for fiat does not make any sense, unless you don't have money to live on, then you should not be even here speculating, go work :)

Sold 100% to fiat on Friday. After months this is the first time I went all in fiat. However, I expected the price to dip lower within this weekend. Maybe I will be buying 50% back in the following 24 hours. Still should be slightly better than break even + fees.

Don't worry, it'll go up again in the next 72 hours. You'll sell at a gain and can then wait for the next trickle down.

Where can I buy these for bitcoin?

zenmagnets.com (http://zenmagnets.com)

Quote
Q: Payment by Bitcoin?
A: Yes, Zen Magnets can now be purchased with Bitcoin, a decentralized digital currency. The value of Bitcoin doesn't come from government trust (like dollars) or chemical properties (like gold), but instead from mathematical properties of cryptography. International orders purchased with bitcoin will be billed for the difference in shipping after purchase. If you would like to upgrade your shipping method, please contact us directly, and we'll manually send you an invoice. Litecoins are also accepted manually, just ask.

not so much balls of steel as,

I could have sold out at 300 and never buy in at the same level agian....this always for BTC, under 1c, $1, $10 $100 etc etc

the  risk of being out of BTC far out weighs a short term  gains in being in fiat.

Think about I'm so glad I sold 20K BTC at $2, bought in at $1!

yes good at the time, but you $20K profit is going get you $20 -30 coins now

lol, bit of the same here. normally not a tobacco smoker but i managed to chain smoke half a pack of Marlboros ( i love them dipped in peppermint oil.) normally would have had my day toke, but i dont like to trade while inebriated.

takeaways:
do not trade on emotion. all these markets, all this money being wielded is ultimately meaningless. unless you are competent enough (technical analysis) to trade through the dips for profit (an increase in your bitcoin holdings, i'm an unapologetic bull), sit tight. business has pointed its focus at bitcoin. The recent surge in Asian interest, ( and subsequent reaction ) the clear definitive regulatory signals from major governments ... bitcoin is here to stay at this point. nothing wrong with selling (if you know what you are doing) but, for those that would speculate without experience.. beware. the volatility and your inexperience will cost you some $/BTC. if you dont need your money now, you will be fine come the start of 2014. if you invested more than you can afford to lose, or did the cool jerk and purchased above $900 and have a need for short term liquidation, you have my permission to freak the fuck out. just dont sell your coins. in fact, disconnect your router. now go sit in the living room and watch some tv. play with your kids. or your dog. paint a mural, or read a goddamned book. i could give a fuck. just trying to preserve your value.

Major capital has been invested in bitcoin. The money will not stand idly by and watch itself crash and burn.

Buy it, watch it, trade it, spend it, risk-the-BITS its hodl-matic....

Reminds me of Busta Rhyme's "Touch It" (they interpolated the original "hook" and made it a bit more syncopated)

IMO balls of steel is not holding now, it was not selling at $1200.  I know why I didn't, but that doesn't mean this is easy.  :-\

if you've held this long, I expect you're in it 'till the end. You'll ride this like the titanic, all the way to the bottom if it goes that way.

---  I still think you should consider this an all or nothing bet. Yes, you could have sold at 1200, and doubled up at 600 (maybe a ten-bagger at 120 if you're lucky enough to have goxbux.) - but the point is, that the upside of this thing is a whole lot bigger than a couple thousand dollars.

the downside is and will always be 0

place your bets accordingly.

Balls of steel or too greedy?

I don't get how people think that holding is greedy... I mean, before crypto, I used to have a 401k... Does that make me greedy for holding by hard worked earnings until i'm so old, no one wants to pay me to sit around and mash buttons?

Hold on like you mean it, bro... My grandpa told me about my uncle who cashed out his stocks in 2008 because he didn't want to see his money shrink more than it already did, and how big of a mistake that was... The stock market came back up and he was out 70% of his portfolio. My grandpa of coarse didn't cash out because he's lived through a few of these to know, and everything is back to normal.

I tend to take advice from people that have lived through it and either learned from other peoples mistakes or learned from their own.

actually the guys with real balls are getting on here and getting like 4 btc (mtgox version) for same
price as 1 btc on stamp

don't know tempting ..you both (him and you) are gonna be sitting on mtgox coin that can only move around in gox till the release..if ever)

assuming the above is legit..you still are taking a long risk imho that www.mtgox.com survives and you get you btc out

hmmm

frigging wild it has been lately
