I don't understand, a huge part of the population apparently knows what BTC is now, but people still say it is anonymous?

Same with anything you do online. People write shit on forums, spread child pornography, blackmail others and act suprised when somebody knocks on the door.

best way to explain bitcoins pseudo-anonymity is this.

show a bank note to someone. and ask them do they know who gave you that bank note.

they will say no.

now get a christmas card, write, "from Franky1" (or your name) and put the bank note in the card and them give them the christmas card.

then ask them do they know who gave them the bank note.

then say, bitcoins are only as anonymous as you are. if someone knows you and you give them money, its not anonymous. if you use tools such as tor, and never reveal that you own the address, by never putting it into the footer of your forum posts, begging for donations. then its alot harder to find out who the funds came from.

Damn. What a groundbreaking treatise on the failures of Bitcoin. I think I'm done here.. Anyone want my coins? ::)

No but on a serious note, it is like all these non-stop articles have huge agendas against BTC.

They still try to claim BTC is a ponzi.

It's not a war on BTc, It's how the new's/media works.
Telling the positive/happy side of ANYTHING never draw's the same attention as the negative, doomsday etc.

Just how they play everything up.

Wait until someone buys a gun with BTc in america. And murder is involved. Just wait for it..

What a dumbass ! Can't he freaking inform himself before writing this crap. His article is full of disinformation and cliché. He has no idea what he is talking about.

the fact is that Bitcoin is not nearly as anonymous as cash.  The story lurking beneath this kind of reporting is that they want ALL transactions to be something like your debit card where bankers have access to a complete database of all your purchases.  Bitcoin obviously poses a challenge to these goals.  A common tactic is the evoke the boogey man of 'money laundering' or even 'child pornography'.

He's a mainstream journalist, what do you expect? Even most tech journalists get it wrong half  the time.

And let's face it - bitcoin was sold on its "anonymity" in the early days. Just ... it isn't
