Great list, I really do like your choices. But I would try to find room for dogecoin.

Not yet, it just started... Maybe if it grows some more.

Devcoin is also pretty interesting. You have to buy it in bitcoin though and it does have some value.

Some of your coins bring nothing new to the table. I would replace the last three by Primecoin, Devcoin and Datacoin, which at least have some fresh ideas.

You people don't get it... Bringing something  new to the table never matters.... It's all about coin's availability, popularity and ease of use.. Nothing else matters... Bitcoin is this popular because it's the first of it's kind... Litecoin is popular because it's the second one after Bitcoin, so everyone that missed the Bitcoin train tried to get on the Litecoin in hope that it'll repeat Bitcoins success... Among the numerous other alt coins, popularity and availability will determine their success... not the content...

Nice list. I'm sure Quark and Zeta will be on that list some day!

Nope, NameCoin started 2nd. This coin is very overlooked

Yeah, I guess Dogecoin will have to wait some time in order to be considered an alternative.

i would add sexcoin , it has the potential to tap into a billion dollar industry

Why would you put something like IFC over maybe Stablecoin, Devcoin, or Digitalcoin. There are many more up and comers that I feel show much more potential than Infinitecoin, it's only a matter of time before at least 1 of those 3 make it close to the top.

I agree with this guy.

Thanks for this list.  It's challenging sometimes keeping on top of all the other alt coins out there!

Yeah, I guess Dogecoin will have to wait some time in order to be considered an alternative.
Just wait for the day it gets listed onto some major exchange like cryptsy or vircurex, and we'll see lists like "Top 7 DOGECOIN Alternatives"
Much Wow

One coin that has been on the back burner for some time now is GLD, GoldCoin. It has been creeping up in value and the network hashrate is picking up speed. I would not be surprised to see it on that list in near future. I created my own pool for it at gld.cloudmines.net (http://gld.cloudmines.net) and I am surprised at how many people jumped on it in such a short amount of time. I still think it is too early to judge Dogecoin but it seems to be gathering a lot of attention.

Devcoin is also pretty interesting. You have to buy it in bitcoin though and it does have some value.

You can also get paid to write, which I find is a smart way to start a coin.
Litecoin is an obvious second, good choices IMO :)

I didn't pick the list, I just posted the list as stated in the article linked, if you want to find out why those were chosen click on the link and read the reasoning behind it!

Peercoin will be the next big coin in my opinion as it has fast transactions and therefore good for small cost items.

You trade fast transaction time for security. 1 Bitcoin confirmation might be worth the same as dozens or probably hundreds Peercoin confirmations

What matter is computational power (the more, the less confirmations you need)

#2 Litecoin
#3 Feathercoin
#4 NovaCoin
#5 PrimeCoin

Everyone has different preferences...
