Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: caminilegroup on December 16, 2013, 01:26:10 AM You could cpu mine scrypt, or depending on your hadware gpu mine.

I have been running bfgminer for a week now with no payout also ive been trying to reach a cash out quota on every free bitcoin site i can find ( needless to say, thats not going very well either) I am legitimately stumped but open to any other suggestions you may have. thank you 19CvJSwggmh8dLgf8hS7jBN9Miaxhdev24 Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: jongameson on December 16, 2013, 02:28:57 AM If you're CPU mining, you might want to try currencies like Primecoin

Post by: caminilegroup on December 16, 2013, 02:29:12 AM I have been running bfgminer for a week now with no payout What are you trying to mine, solo, pool, scrypt, sha-256, gpu, cpu, asic? This doesn't give any information expect you are running mining software. People are here to help you figure out solutions to problems, you just have to give the problem, and details of it. Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: wuties on December 16, 2013, 02:36:01 AM sorry, i am trying to mine bitcoin in a pool
i am also on my laptop. maybe its not efficient enough?? Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: BurtW on December 16, 2013, 02:39:43 AM sorry, i am trying to mine bitcoin in a pool There is your problem. You do not have enough hashing power to make any BTC - ever.Try something else. There are plenty of other things to try, here is just one: get some cash, go on localbitcoins.com, arrange to meet someone at a local coffee shop and buy some BTC from them. Post by: caminilegroup on December 16, 2013, 02:40:21 AM sorry, i am trying to mine bitcoin in a pool i am also on my laptop. maybe its not efficient enough?? You are not going to do anything on a laptop cpu mining, your just shorting the lifespan of your cpu running all it's threads maxed out. Unless you have a MBP with nvidia or a alien ware, it isn't worth cpu mining. Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: ShotgunSnipist on December 16, 2013, 02:42:35 AM sorry, i am trying to mine bitcoin in a pool i am also on my laptop. maybe its not efficient enough?? You won't be able to mine Bitcoin on a laptop. I can guarantee you're spending more on electricity than you're making back in Bitcoin. Mining on a laptop usually isn't worth it at all, but if you really want to try, I would recommend mining a coin that can only be mined on CPU such as Primecoin. Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: wuties on December 16, 2013, 05:18:11 AM so i just downloaded a primecoin wallet, its taking a long time to sync with the network (says its 22 weeks behind) but when it comes up, any suggestions for a mining process i should start with??
also thanks to who ever put that little bit into my bitcoin account, made my day. :) Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: juggs on December 16, 2013, 05:51:52 AM also thanks to who ever put that little bit into my bitcoin account, made my day. :) Can't help you with Primecoin as I've not dabbled in it, so I removed that bit of the quote. I'd also like to thank whoever put a little bit into wuties BTC wallet, it's small gestures like that from the community at large which ease the pain of the learning curve for new miners - it maybe a trivial (or not) amount but it is incentive to break past that mental "OH FFS - I give up I can't get this to run right!" barrier that all new miners face when setting up at first. It is pretty much impossible to solo mine now, so you'll need to join a pool. My favorite pool is http://www.ypool.net After signing up and logging in, visit the "How to" section to learn everything you need. Don't expect much from your laptop. I am still running one pretty high-end server on PrimeCoin (24 cores) and I'm only getting *maybe* 1 XPM per day. Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: Faince1985 on December 16, 2013, 09:02:30 AM sorry, i am trying to mine bitcoin in a pool To actually get a share in a bitcoin pool with the xx giga hashes is very difficult. You might get a little more mining a small alt-currency with a GPU or mining with a CPU in a CPU only currency.i am also on my laptop. maybe its not efficient enough?? Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: SemiMolten on December 16, 2013, 10:20:38 AM Buy BTC, Localbtc is a good choice.
Title: Re: I am having a hard time starting up. Post by: nafetias on December 16, 2013, 12:26:15 PM If you want to get btc from mining, you are about 3 years to late, you could try mining alt coins and trading them.
