Title: mtgox is going to be an scam?
Post by: tylkotak on December 16, 2013, 09:20:54 AM
Hello,
I wonder, because for about one month ago I made a money transfer to my mtgox account for about one thousand euro (1000) and today still I can't see my money:( I made support request, got some answer but silence for some days now. If u look more, mtgox Facebook profile, we can see that is a lot of people that are missing money from this portal.

What is wrong with Mtgox? I transfered money there 3 times before for some thousands euro. Takę care people because I think they have problems and they are on the way to be a scam;/

What is your opinion?

Not exactly scum, but mtgox are going off and on too frequently.
In my opinion defenitely not an exchange you should trust.
At least their certificate is now verified, because a week ago it was not verified which leads me to take out all little amounts of coins I have had there.

MtGox is not a scam but a company beleaguered and unable to operate properly
You are best off avoiding them altogether at this point of time
I stopped using them about 2 months ago and dont plan on returning

If they are "the biggest" one exchange portal for biitcoins, how they earn money or how they can go bankruptcy? They have only money from fees?

Freezed US bank accounts + expensive lawyers  ???
There must be reason why USD withdrawals can take months - no doubt they face legal actions when such delays

MTGOX has many issues with withdrawals mainly and according to you also deposits (for fiat) they might have an issue getting some banking partners or are simply short on cash after us seized some of there accounts.

that is a common fallacy. being cautious always helps when the risks are high  ;)

Well moving money out of gox is causing some people troubles but i didn't knew that it's hard to fund your account as well. What was the answer on your ticket?

There is a risk of bankruptcy whatwith lower volumes and all that $ still tied up in the coinlab lawsuit and with the FBI

Stay away from MtGox, BTC-e and OKPay.

Exactly we see many users here reporting daily about issues with these three companies. Never seen a single complaint of Bitstamp though.

If you mean in the case of an exchange run then i 'm not sure if any exchange out there will survive such an event  ::)

Exchanges should not use people deposits for business expenses, thats what fees are for.

I think people throw around the world scam too often. Getting cash out is hard but this is likely to be due to the huge influx if new customers. Granted they could always bring on board more staff.... Just be careful!!!

Scam is a strong word.

Mt. Gox is hemorrhaging from growth and new regulations.

Remember they were one of the first, if not the first, and the biggest.

You get gunned for, when you are at the top, so as a consumer you need to check your options and understand that good businesses run into problems and it is not always malicious.

Check the rest of the forum for alternatives.

I like the way you're thinking!

My observations are:  No one can withdraw until money from newer deposits is acquired to pay you. If you try to fund a 2 factored account, they 'lose' your deposit. If you don't have 2 factor, they let you put money in, buy coins, and they disappear. If your unverified, your deposit make it to your account and then remain unverified. You might actually lose your verification status for no reason other than to stop you from trying to trade/withdraw.

They recently 'lost' a 3000USD deposit I made.

All the patterns I've been observing point to a scheme to cover their asses long enough to avoid being murdered by victims or face legal repercussions..

Of course they wait until the holidays, when banks are closed, to notify my that they cant find my transfer.

No one operates like this and consciously considers themselves legit business operators. They are borrowing from customer #2 to pay customer #1. Then borrowing from customer #3 to pay customer #2, and so on and so on. When the amount of deposits outnumbers the amount of withdrawals, the excuses flood in.  THIS IS AN ILLEGAL OPERATION.
