I am very new to cryptocurrency. Just want to know which from these two bitcoin and altcoin should i do invest for a short time period say three to four months , waiting for your expert advices

I will suggest you to start from bitcoin because on every trading platform (maximum) to start trading you need to buy bitcoin or ETH. Then you can buy any altcoin using that BTC or ETH. You still have to buy bitcoin! And then you already buy alcoins. If you want to short-term, then you need to bargain with crypto-currencies.

Bear in mind that when BTC is rallying or stable, powerful Altcoin projects make exponential gains, ie they gain in BTC terms when BTC is gaining on the USD, so Altcoin to USD increase can be geometric during a stable bull run.

In my opinion, if its a short time investment, you can consider alternate coins. You can always buy low and sell high if yiu are planning ontrading it. Investing on ICO has a lot of ROI. Why not both? I think bitcoin still has a lot of potential for a price increase and the same i think about eth or other altcoins.

3-4 months is quite a short time, I think you should only invest in the top 20 altcoin like EOS, NEO or Stellar. It is the altcoin that will bring you profits for a short period of time.

But I will choose altcoin because if I do that I can get more profit because the price is cheap and once the price increase you can get more profit. It is always advisable to separate your fund into btc and altcoin ,usually 50% to btc and other half to altcoin but you can go for altcoin fully as I do.but invest in potential altcoin or token and have patience till project roadmap is completing ,in between focus on increasing the quantity in pump and dump scenario .

I think only the altcoins will help you in your task, especially coins such as stratis or monero. They are very volatile. Yes, this is a risk, but with bitcoin at the moment you are unlikely to get a big profit because of its small rise in price.

I am a supporter of bitcoin but for short term holding i think its not bitcoin whos applicable,i would choose Ethereum for this one,because this coin has a good potential in generating increase for few months from now

Both Bitcoin and altcoin are good to invest in although it's longterm or shortterm but IMO I think Bitcoin is a little bit old :)). At the moment, Bitcoin is really slow and new altcoin is much better than Bitcoin about transaction speed and transaction fee ;D. ETH is a cryptocurrency created after Bitcoin and Bitcoin is only better than ETH just because of its high price so if I were you, I would choose altcoin ;D

i think that bitcoin is not the best coin out here but for me it's the most "relaiable", for relaiable i mean that it's less likely you will loose all your founds, with alts you can make some crazy gains but it's also more likely to buy a scam project that will fall to nothing like bitconnect or titanium, so if you want to invest in some alts i suggest you to to study their roadmap, the team and the community before buy them.

For short time investment choose potential altcoins/tokens.An alt with low market cap can reach ~10x but bitcoins can never ever reach 10x in a "short time".Not after the December pump.

There are many good alts in the market, which offers huge scalability making them huge contender for people using them IRL.And if something is used by many people, then the price will automatically reach the moon.Go for altcoins!

I will still choose bitcoin it might be decreasing this time it's price but  it is a strong coin and nothing can beat it's popularity.I will choose to invest in the first ever crypto than in new coin because bitcoin is already known in the whole business and in the market.this is only my own opinion.

I think there is always good alternatives to bitcoin. But on the other hand, I think you shouldn't forget that, ethereum is the strobgest coin of the crypto.
