Post by: TiagoTiago on February 22, 2011, 03:47:50 PM
I live on Brazil, i do have access to an international credit card (not mine, but of  someone i know), i have a savings account on bank Itau but i got someone that has a full account there too.

What are the ways i can buy BTC and what is involved in each case?

One option is to find someone who wants to buy something somewhere with a credit card. Buy it for them and get them to give you bitcoins in exchange.

May I ask what amount you are considering spending?
I have used a creditcard through the western union website to pay.
You can check if that is available in Brazil.

Tiago, you may use CoinPal. It doesn't allow a large volume but it's a start.

It would be nice if someones that happens to know Ruby on Rails and has some spare time could implement a PagSeguro plugin to bitcoin-central. PagSeguro is a sort of Brazilian paypal, but they don't do chargebacks. Of course, they charge quite high fees for credit card payments, but Brazilians could use less expensive forms of payment (boleto, TEF). More info: https://pagseguro.uol.com.br/en/what-is-pagseguro.html

Some time ago i once tried creating an account on Paypal, they said they would pay me back the account creation fee after creating the account, but the wording was deceptive, and  i couldn't use the account anyway afterward for some reason i don't remember :\

You shouldn't need to create a paypal account, they'll let you checkout with a credit card directly.
