My advice is to learn English grammar through books. You should read children's books and English books. If not, then you should buy bilingual funny books to read both entertainment and remember the grammar structure used inside. From there, learn, take notes to apply when needed.

I can't tell the English grammar rules by heart, but I can say that I use most of them correctly in my daily language and writing.
It just comes from practice, while speaking with the natives, watching videos in English, listening to podcasts, watching movies, etc.

Or just typing. There is Grammarly that corrects your mistakes. So each time you have a correction, you can memorize that to not repeat again!

A tip is not to assume something is correct, but check is it correct? Ask are you parroting poor grammer.


Again, as a native English speaker, I see people getting "then" and "than" wrong all the time. Getting the two right is probably going to be very difficult given it's hugely incorrect use online. I have no doubt many native English speakers do not know how to correctly use them.

People say something like "Coke is better then Pepsi" or "John has more Bitcoin then Paul", when it's a comparison and should be "than".  You see this constantly wrong and a global example of wrong use being adopted as correct.

So my pro tip is: don't assume what someone else writes is correct, even if it's the title of an English grammer thread.

I tried reading English news and books, but still I'm not very proud of my English. Mayby I just don't have tanet for languages? I think good idea could be also writing with someone who knows English as native language and can help you to improve your skills.

The best advice I get as a teenager learning English is to read a lot of boring, English books. From the UK, the one written in XX century. And to watch movies you will probably never wanted to watch, to concentrate on dialog not plot.

I was a bit headache of my English professor during 4th year high school.  I even got 65% on the 3rd quarter and just got lucky to made it passed by the last quarter and graduated.  But, through reading English books like encyclopedia, comics, watching English movies, speaking the language with other nationalities, I managed to learn how to be good English speaker and even very good in writing.  I just realized that I have already knew English since high school days, only that I just felt not confident at all to express it.

This will help rapid speech, chunking of information, and idiomatic expressions.

(i) written english

I guess, the best solution is to talk to natives as much as possible. There are lots of examples from my own experience to follow.

I learned English grammar in games. I play a lot of RPG games and that's where I get English fluent. Studying grammar is easy when playing with people that are english speaking. Right, to be good at English grammar, there is no better way than doing more and more exercise in grammar books. Moreover, I also watch horror stories (animation) on Youtube, they read slowly and clearly. As a result, I can learn more from what I'm interested in, not just boring exercises.

I can suggest going to facebook, search for english filology student, pay him/her to teach you. Way cheaper than an actual teacher and has basically the same knowledge :)

Listening movies may not give much effective results because they are not using proper grammar while speaking.So go with speeches from experts even random videos on youtube will help but you need to have basic knowledge to understand all these things or everything will sounds like ohh what? :D

I'm not good also at grammar, but i agree with you in this list. The most recommended for me is speaking english always. It's kind of experience. Experience is the most effective way to learn something than studying. So if you speak english always. Your grammar with be good in time, without you even knowing.

Watch a lot of english dramas, films and documentaries - you will not only learn english but will also learn the way how the culture works. I also read a lot of books, no matter what genre they are and whenever I encounter new words I immediately search its meaning - that way I learned english lol

Most likely you are going to learn them wrong. There are a lot of people who do not use correct syntax and grammar in Youtube. Learning with native speakers is a good idea though.

As they say action speaks louder than words, I agree in a sense that what worked for me, watching movies in English helps a lot more than any English grammar book because when you watch a movie in thay language, you automatically mentally form an action for every word of that language and how it's spoken and you just get better at it. Although the basics of English grammar can be learnt. That's how we all learnt our mother tongues when we saw our parents saying it and we didn't have to study a grammar book in our childhood to learn it.

What personally worked best for me is to open Spotify, play a song and while it's playing, see the Lyrics and try to sing it out loud. Eventually the pronunciation will stick to you and without realizing you'll start speaking and writing better English. Hope it helps.

i have the same problem. i learned english in school for some years, was very bad and restart learning english while playing online games. i mean in total i can commucate with other people, a nativespeaker and non. But i would fail every test for grammer and right spelling.  the biggest problem is the direkct translation from your own language into english. It helps , watching series in OT on Netflix , to get use to the terms of the language

In order to learn English grammar well, I think that reading grammar book is a good way and there are many grammar lessons that we can study English grammar from them.

Take some grammar classes and find a good teacher to help you for you know grammar is boring and difficult so if you have a teacher to explain the grammar for you, maybe you will study grammar with ease.

Watching videos and movies that are in English is also good to learn. You'll hear the correct pronunciation of the words that you're probably struggling to say.

But it's also the best to talk to someone personally. As long as you're talking with correct words and you do understand each other, you'll get to improve that by doing it on a cycle and make it a habit. Even until now, I'm not good at it and still on a continuous learning.

In my view, I think you can join in an English grammar club to study grammar with other people and you can help each other. I think it will be more fun to learn English grammar

The very best way I learnt English grammar is watching a lot of American TV shows, soap operas, and listening to English news. I was so interested in the Ellen DeGeneres show that I started to pick up on English grammar mostly from watching her shows. It was hard at first to follow but as I watched more episodes of her show I started to catch on very very slowly. Although I am not perfect yet but I am better than when I started the journey to learning English grammar language.
