Title: Need help: Making an alt-coin wallet in Android framework
Post by: M1chl on December 18, 2013, 01:31:22 AM
Hi, I am Android developer and currently looking into making Dogecoin wallet on Android. The problem I am having right now, is that I don|t know much about crypto-currencies and even through that are crypto wallets out there, I don't know how to modify them to work on particular crypto-currency (in this case Dogecoin). I could probably experiment, but since the p2p nature of currency, I have big fear about causing something bad and I would really don not want that. Can someone here please help me with this? I have doges to share : )

- there's a testnet for bitcoin, find out if there's one available for dogecoin; in a testnet you can get free coins and test without fear of losing real money
- bitcoinj is a java port of the bitcoin protocol, might be a good starting point if you want to build your wallet from the ground up.
Even when taking an existing android wallet it will probably use bitcoinj as well, so I'm thinking you should fork bitcoinj and make your dogecoin changes there.
