Title: Mining with R9 280X
Post by: NeoPepito on December 18, 2013, 12:59:53 PM
Hi all,

I'm noob here so it's is my first post :)

I'm starting in crypto currencies today so I am doing some tests minning with my GPU R9 R280X. I am getting about 550Kh/s with scrypt algorithm, is that high? or very low? somebody mining with R280X or HD7970 (practically same card) can tell me how much hash speed get?

Thanks in advance

Thats very low. I've just built a 4 Sapphire 280x rig with a 1300w PSU and have managed to get them running at 735 kh (each) using all four cards, and I can get two cards running at 745 -750 kh at around 70c. I'm presuming this might be a power clipping issue using all four so I'll be testing another PSU at some point. Still, there is loads of power available from these cards providing your settings are correct. Which make of cards are they, and what's your cgminer settings?

550 with one card is not bad. 735 with 4 cards is low and waste if resources.

Waste of resources? What do you mean exactly? I mean 735 per card, so 2940 kh total.

I've edited the text to show that, but only a fool would think I was getting 184 kh with the same card?.. come on.

Hi, i have two 280x for mining, with one of them you can mine at 720k/Hs, and 1340K/hs for both

For this speed i add this command "-I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192"

As of today I wouldn't mine with GPU

I'm planning on building a mining rig with 3x Asus R9 280x in a obsidian 750d case (Full Tower). I'm also planning to use it as a "normal" computer so it's not a complete mining rig. Do you guys think it's possible to run 3 graphic cards in a closed case in terms of heat. How much does it differ from running it in a open case or in a mining rig.

I'm living in an small apartment so I don't really would like to have to much noise from the rig.

Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks!

Hi i'm using the same GPU (SAPPHIRE) on srypt mining my speed is 745 constantly.
If needed i could post my textline in a bat file for start mining and my settings.

Just to do my first post ...

I am running two R9 280X on linux x64 each (i read the other posts :-)) about 600 kh/s.

cgminer --scrypt -I 13 -g 2 -w 256 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192

I have seen cards up to 740 kh/s in hardware lists, but couldn't get mine so fast.

yes r9 280x are great for mining but mine LTC instead or use middlecoin.com

but not all 280x cards do the same.I have some sapphire toxic and few xfx cards and must say it was a PITA to make the xfx run @ 710 while the toxic goes up to 820-830 when further OCed
