Title: Support For new Bitcommerce site.
Post by: tradecoinz on August 16, 2011, 11:54:18 PM
We really need support for our (Soon to be released Bit-Commerce site.) The website is: tradecoinz.com. Currently, we are running about 80$ a month for server costs and we need help. We are a new business out of Atlanta Ga and we want to sell new electronics, video games, and other items online. We are a ligit company: Tradecoinz LLC. You may search public records: http://corp.sos.state.ga.us/corp/soskb/CSearch.asp
We are a business legally operated in Atlanta, Ga. We also want to be the first to sell great unused products on the web (on a large scale). Not only will this be great for the people with bitcoins, but for the people who want to invest in bitcoins as well. Investors are out of the question and we need the community's help.  ;)

If you can, please send your donations here:

We will refund your donations as soon as we get off our feet. On top of that, we are willing to add 25% more on top of your donation.

Thank You,
Cameron Halter

Joomla? For an ecommerce site? Are you building a custom solution to integrate bitcoin payments? Or is there already one thatI'm not aware off?

Not bashing, just curious.

Currently we are using joomla. We are developing a platform that will allow us to process payments and orders. To release the website quicker however, we will be using virtumart. We wanted to design a platform that would allow us to act as a exchange as well. Which we hope to be released a few months of opening.

We have already tried to get investors. (Didn't work out too well)...So we are relying on the community.

P.S.- We are aware of the vulnerabilities in Joomla!..Currently we have two separate servers on two separate hosting accounts. One hosting the website and one hosting bitcoind. All passwords will be encrypted and we will migrate over to another platform as soon as possible.

Then don't use PHP. And don't run cPanel. You're just making a large problem worse.

Agreed. We are just using the server as a test area. We will be moving servers soon...However, it requires money to do that.

You're overpaying by far. Joomla also abuses resources like you've never seen before.
You could easily get away on $15-20 or less for the webserver with a properly optimised system even running joomla.

Drupal is good.

Drupal's resource requirements however will kick you in the ass repeatedly. Far more than what Joomla requires to run in tip top shape. FAR.

Still, we aren't expecting massive amounts of people using the site at a time...If it gets to that point, we would definitely migrate again. (Hell, it would be great if that happens ;) )

I quite literally mean an empty drupal site, btw. Admin GUI isn't much fun when it takes two minutes to load.

While I don't really doubt you're a "legal company operating out of Atlanta", we really have no idea what you're even attempting to do. What exactly are "unused products?" I mean, are you selling condoms, or are you selling oven mitts? Or are you selling everything? Are you going to be selling off the shelf products, for bitcoins, or are you knitting sweaters and selling them for bitcoins?

I've got a pile of unused condoms if any one is interested. Probably past their sell by date, I haven't got any action for quite a while - will trade for bitcoins!

We are mostly selling electronics, video games, and computer parts. We are currently in contact with distributors for sony and activision products. We are going to be accepting bitcoins for MW3 preorders. As well as the playstation vita.
