Title: Are miners leaving Bitcoin for Dogecoin?
Post by: mahieddine on December 18, 2013, 03:20:46 PM
Hi,
It's not a provocation but i noticed that miners are leaving Bitcoin for Dogecoin, +8billion dogecoin has been mined in only 10 days !! i think miners are doing this because DogeCoin has more potential to generate revenu than bitcoin , do you agree with this or it's just me ?

>bitcoin is mined with sha-256 asic
>dogecoin is a scrypt coin

You cannot use bitcoin mining equip to mine dogecoin, so no, they are not leaving.

I Was not saying that Bitcoin miners are mining DogeCoin with ASIC material come on...but for sure Bitcoin miners are leaving Bitcoin mining for many reasons (high difficulty, Bitcoin price, material costs....) and many miners are going to DogeCoin (you can check by yourself)  currently the hashing power on DogeCoin is equivalent or more than any other alt currency.

PS : I'm not promoting a shitty coin i'm just relating a fact

Dogecon is scrypt based. I don't think there are people mining Bitcoins with GPUs anymore.

p.s. dogecoin is the biggest scam around nowadays.

so hate. much puritan. such lack of humour

I don't understand why people hate Dogecoin so much. I bought 550000 of them. Even if they go to a cent a piece I would be a happy guy.

that's isn't such an unrealistic expectation as i once thought. I have changed my mind on doge. Although it is essential a shitclone it's community is huge. It was the first coin mined for the new wave of miners and i think it will remain a rather successful coin. I am kicking myself for ignoring it when it was easy to mine.

No one hates dogecoin, it seems to be that it is being pumped beyond belief.  What is so special about it besides a few people freaking out about it?  I've seen it a million times on these forums, with other alts, that later fart out.

Every coin has a purpose no one can tell this coin is a scam or not
I Think the biggest scam is Dollars and yet everybody use it...
The biggest problem with digital currencies is that there are so much silly investor coming from the trading world that make decisions based on news papers as long as we have this kind of people no digital currency can succeed no one. SPECULATION = DEAD OF THE CURRENCY

I do not know if it is true, but I heard a lot of Litecoin miners have jumped in to mine dogecoins. Looking at the mining pools with some real big heavy weights mining makes me to think it could be true.

p.s. dogecoin is the biggest scam around nowadays.

There is nothing "Scam" about it as an alt coin.

In fact it has fewer "scam" elements than many "legit" alt coins do.  Zero premining ... etc

What it has, is a gimmick that is going viral and becoming wildly popular.

You should learn what makes something successful.... you sound like a Bitcoin critic.

Yep, DogeCoin is through the roof. If anyone who could be mining it isn't, they're making a huge mistake.

People easily confuse mining a coin for profit with mining in support of the coin
