Title: Going to 240 volts. Questions...
Post by: Pipesnake on August 17, 2011, 01:58:11 AM
1)  Is it as easy as flipping the switch on the back of the PSU and getting some plug adapters?

2)  What is a "safe" amount of juice to pull through a single outlet?  Is 10 amps ok?  15?

Depends on the PSU. All the ones I have are auto switching, but the ones with a switch on the back that read 110v or 240v shout work once switched to the 240v side.

Depends on what the wiring size, and what the outlet was designed for. I ran a new line for my 240v drop, enough to handle 30 amps.

You should be able to put twice the wattage through the same wire because the equipment will draw half the amps for the same wattage. You should use a 220 volt receptacle however so no one is tempted to fry other equipment that expects 110.

May I ask what you're pulling through each outlet?
I only have a single outlet with one of these plugged into it:

And I'm currently only pulling 8 amps, but I'm still adding to my miners.
