Title: Little tool for helping to understand Bitcoin
Post by: nibor on August 17, 2011, 12:44:49 PM

I have created a tool that receives bitcoins at a specific address, deducts a 3% commission and the 0.0005 transaction fee and then send them back to the address it received them from.

Pointless I know! But is useful when you are new to bitcoin as you can test sending money using the client and see it coming back 10-20 mins later. Also allows you to look on block explorer see the transactions. Since commission is very small and you can sent tiny amounts if you wish will only cost you about $0.01 to use if you send the smallest amount.

Address to send to is: 1BEgL3j6YSzxajeyp6A5AUaqcYbN5xZRaU

Hope you use and find useful. Any issues please post on this thread.

Thanks

Nibor.

Cool concept, but you could have made the URL a little shorter. ;)

Great idea. Maybe only 1%? Someone may find a use for this. Good luck. :P

Just remember that the wallet is deleted when you close your AWS instance!

What a deal, giving my money to someone 3% for nothing. Where do I sign?

Have just updated site so that it will now send you your money back after zero confirmations. So you can test how fast the p2p network is.

Also it is running on the testnet for those who use that. Details on website.

Very cool. I like it, it could be used to help debug future bitcoin applications.
First test the application with on testnet-in-a-box, then with your website on the Internet testnet and finally when you are sure that 99.99% of the bugs are gone on the real live block chain.

Reminds me a bit of the old email bouncing/relaying test that used to work before spam started on the Internet.

You would send an email to YourEmailBox%YourEmailDomain@EmailDomainThatYouWantedToCheckForComunicationProblems

The remote email server, would go I have no emailbox for YourEmailBox%YourEmailDomain, hmmmmm there is a % there, let me drop my domain and replace the last % symbol with an @ symbol and send it on it's way. You could bounce email of several domains and send the email around the world a few times.

If you received an email back it confirmed that your client could send and receive emails to that remote domain. And that any delivery issues were local to the remote domains delivery rules, or that the remote email box did not exist.

Only worked back in the day when the Internet was more innocent, probably stopped working when spammers started using open relays to flood the email system with crap (95-97)
