Title: I can't keep track of the discussions I'm interested
Post by: fernandoaleixo on May 13, 2018, 01:51:52 PM
I ended up posting my many topics, but when I hit the "Show new replies to your posts" button it literally show every single post that I went to and it's not dead, a big list of which I need to lose minutes looking for and I feel severely discouraged, is there any idea to improve this list? Also, I'm 100% sure nobody really uses the "Show unread posts since last visit", since it will mostly show updated topics from the market list (that is normally the most updated for obvious reasons), I don't know if this came with Bitcoin forum template, but I believe there are better options in order to improve it.

The practice I do is,
=> I active notification of the boards I am interested. It helps me to get email notification of any new topic posted on those selected boards.
=> I active notification for the topics I am interested in. It helps me to get notification if anyone make a new comment on that topic.

Not sure if this will help you or not.

You can configure your own watchlist in order to keep the track in those posts, boards, etc in which you are interested, and to clean-up your feed. This tool is in your profile user, and, to be honest, is useful, for, as you said, there is too much noise in the "unread post since your last visit" tool.

I use the watchlist, but if you don't like using that for whatever reasons you could just bookmark the threads you want to follow or keep a text document of the url and copy and paste it into your browser when you want too.

Although, the watchlist should be adequate for your needs.

There are many ways to find the thread you want to keep on track. I use to bookmark the page whatever discussion I am really looking to watch it closely. Then you can check watch this topic to get the updated answers from the various members.

Most of the mis leading about notify me of replies check in box you can see here but that will help you to track the special thread you love or want to see it. Better suggestion you can bookmark on any browser and use whenever you want mate.

I used to un-watch threads I'm not interested in anymore but that feature isn't working as it should because I can still see them in the "Show new replies to your posts" section.

Utterly annoying I might add.  :(

Well for me, i usually use bookmark feature from my browser because i can open it in a single click, but of course i need to know where i left off. Other way i find watch topic as a handful feature. But if i forgot to do those 2 things, i would go back to scroll to my last posts and find my recent conversations with others. This might help you, it is a slow and old fashioned way to keep track your discussion, but it wont disappoints you.

Blame the shitposters for this. Its impossible to keep an eye on every thread you have posted. I do use that ""Show new replies" but I dont read the threads which have become spam mega threads. Instead I skim through the list from last page to first page everyday when I come to the forum and open the new replies to those topics which I am interested in.

You can also watch boards as necessary. But I dont use it much.

Agreed. I would have that button removed. It was only useful long time back and I never click on it anymore.

You can do my suggestions below:

1.) Have the TITLE of the TOPIC written on a certain paper/notepad
2.) Save it on your BOOKMARK PAGE.
3.) You can always use the SEARCH PANEL of the FORUM  for some keywords of your favorite topics :) (If you can't do the 2 options stated above)

Agree, this is kind of messy. The tool I use the most, to be honest, is "see the last posts of this person" in my own profile, so I can go back to the thread I replied, and check -out if there is any interesting debate on course.
The checklist maybe can result too general, you're right.

I actually made a thread last month which helps people organize the threads and discussions they're interested in following. It also goes into detail about each board sorting feature and how you can utilize these tools to your benefit.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3318707

Please check it out, I think it will be very helpful.  :)

I just hit the button when I want to see an update of a post I made on a topic that I think is important to monitor every time so I do not have to search for the topics I need on hundreds of other topics.
