Title: DOGE: The biggest pump and dump
Post by: number37 on December 19, 2013, 10:06:12 PM
This is really the greatest pump and dump I've seen since the Bitcoin boom from the beginning of the year.

A mediocre coin, mostly copied and pasted, with some parameters and other changes, with different ideas copied from other existing coins, and launched at the time where there are 200+ alt coins already launched, can achieve where it is today for DOGE, is really amazing. I really admire the talents of the DOGE owner, really, not in any negative way. ;D

It is overvalued probably by around 100 times now, and hype is continuing. This is a wonderful example of pump (and dump - which will come soon), and I am watching with great interests how long the pump will last, and how and when the dump will come.

Man, we are in a great time to watch a wonderful real-life movie!

Yes I agree, although I am mining and selling right now as fast as I can ;)  there is nothing special about it except some kind of weird (no offense, I'm weird too) supporters.

Absolutely, the pump-and-dumps are big opportunities for us to make money, as long as we know what we are doing. It is risky but can be very profitable, if we ride on the correct wave. :)

Doge is the epitome of pump that comes in a meme package, super smart marketing and determined to rise to unknown heights. It was meant as a joke and it turned out as the most widely spread altcoin in the shortest time possible. A true achievement! What other coin has that many enthusiasts behind it? Some will win and some will lose with this little (to some annoying) doge that took off so unexpectedly.

I disregard some haters here, because it not worth to reply them.

We've been seeing this kind of pump and dumps many places and many times. The hype on gold stocks (anyone remember Bre-X?), the .com stocks, etc. Comparing to these, the DOGE is a small dog, but we know what is there and what will happen, lol ;D

Well I like dogecoins, it's massively overvalued at the moment though. If we assume that they mine 300 000 000 Dogecoins a day (just a wild guess) then there have to flow about 300 000 dollar into dogecoin everyday. So the price will crash probably in 1-2 days, I will be ready to sell high and buy low anyway.

I think the key difference is how fast this coin got some infrastructure.  Dooglus put up Doge-Dice very quickly, faucets everywhere, and a ton of giveaways and pools.  It was on an exchange, abet not a very great one, from almost its inception.  That kind of stuff matters.

Would I buy it, no, 100 billion is a shit ton of coins, but it does have the real advantage of not taking itself seriously, that plus the rapid development of infrastructure is unique among the 200 alt coins out there.

Surely any coin "devs" pump their own stuff, but the "dump" part it's because miners are dumping it at whatever price...

The fact that a currency like this rises to number eight on CoinMarketCap kind of shows what a joke Crypto is.  Lovely that what is "successful" in currency is a joke-meme coin.

This will definitely top my list of one of the biggest scams in a long time. Bigger than the QRK pump and dump scam, bigger than btc-e's shady Novacoin deal, bigger than the LTC online wallet theft, could compete with the Silk Road takedown by the gov.

It's the most profitable coin to mine right now, by far-- my only regret is that I was traveling when it hit the forums, and I just lost remote access to my miners-- so I had to wait a few days to get back and get going.  I'm sorry people see this is a serious coin.  It's such a joke.

Doge is already fading after 2 days. Quark rose to 4 or 5 in market cap and has stayed there for weeks. No scam about it. Stop making a fool out of yourself.

BTC can lose 50% of it's value in a day. Stop acting as if BTC isn't just the original rollercoaster clusterfuck. It's high value is due it being the original and being hyped by Max Kaiser and Snopp Dogg. It literally has nothing, technologically, that makes it superior to most of the other altcoins. Everything you can do with Bitcoin can be done with Litecoin or Dogecoin. In fact the former are faster.

Let's add this thread to this list http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/neverwrk.htm and our grandchildren can laugh at it when they use crypto and have no idea what paper fiat is. Other than something that, "Yea, I saw that in a museum.  Can you believe they had to carry that around to pay for stuff?"  Dogecoin may be all you say, BUT, it is introducing people to crypto that knew nothing of it before Dogecoin.  So yea, let's pump the hell out of it and you can dump on it as much as you want because that only adds to the pump so you can dump on it that adds to the pump.......Get the picture?

We hate because you all put too much value into it. You think 1 Dog should be around .1BTC. Know your place, let the value settle where it should, and it will left alone. This coin is not the next coming of sliced bread. Once your all understand that... it will cool down.

Title: Re: DOGE: The biggest pump and dump

It's not a classic P&D because the coin only just started, plus most of the miners (myself included) are dumping them as soon as they show up on Cryptsy. It's a few days of unusually profitable mining, like FTC was back in the day. It's just that people don't want to be "left out" so they are scrambling to buy a few million just in case.

DOGE's biggest problem I feel is that its current success is almost entirely down to a joke which is bound to get old pretty soon. Much wow! Come back in a week or 2 and it'll be last week's news (literally)

That said, I think this coin can have some value in the longer term, but the price collapse phase is unavoidable. It hasn't collapsed yet, it's still sky high.

The fact that people are scared that the coin went from 0.00000225 to 0.00000150 just proves that people are in it for the pump n dump. 0.00000150 is a lot for a useless coin, so I don't see where the complaining is coming from. I thought 0.00000010 would be the maximum I'd ever see it.
