Didn't Satoshi pre-mine more than twice that much?

So what's the big deal here then?

A mod moved the thread for ixcoin, preventing a bunch of dudes from knowing about it, consequently not being able to get in. Then the premining didn't make sense, and when it was disclosed why, hardly anyone saw the post or actually acknowledged it until days later. So during their confusion they just went with it and did exactly what every reactionary on earth does and rebels through ignorance. setting up their own fort so no one could get inside. Now they are just continuing it thinking it's some sort of darwinism. when really it's because they don't have anything better to do, but replay some strange game of standard idiot bitcoin forum noob only this time it's sped up through an emulator.

That premining happened at all is why we should ignore ixcoins as the absolute waste of time they are.

No matter what the true reason for the premining was, whether it was greed or to reserve for bounties ...

If the ixcoin creator had any actual ability, understanding of the client, and how things worked, and even rudimentary coding skills, he could have altered the code to simply award 1 million coins in block 1. No reason to "mine" for ages to build up money, it could have been part of the definition of code.

Do you really want to use a currency fork that was forked by someone who obviously does not understand the currency mechanism itself?

XD how is it you know this?
Satoshi announced the existence of the bitcoin network and the availability of his software on the day he started it, on a cryptography mailing list. The first block is dated from january 3rd, 2009. In order to determine its hash, the first block uses a newspaper title from that same day, which proves that the date was not faked.

now, I am astonished that you ask me how I know this, and that you do not ask the same question to those who make the opposite claim.
why ?

Bias, of course. The point of ixcoins was to try and ride the bitcoin bandwagon to easy riches for people who were jealous they didn't take the ride in 2009... So you've got a ton of people not wanting to accept that they got scammed by the guy who pre-mined all the coins up front. And hoping that maybe if they deny it enough they might still make money.

Based upon Gavin Adresen he says that Satoshi released the bitcoin client publicly then started mining coins.

Even if he premined them the guy created the source code and put his own ingenuity into the software thus giving it value.

He should be the only person ever allowed to premine coins because he started all of this bitcoin movement.

Thomas on the other hand did nothing but mined 580k coins and then released a copy-cat version of bitcoin.

Valid points, but then the value of said coins is next to nil; so really the market's kind of already decided.

@Smoothie

STFU before I buy up more than half of all your physical Litecoins and 51% attack the supply chain LOL

~BCX~

Heh, the first physical 51% attack, that'd be sure to get you on a panel at the BitCon.  ;D

See, people with very low hashrates, think that its wrong for developers to have more of their own coin then they do. ::)

Lol wow so long ago.

Would it be considered premining that I created my coins before releasing and selling them to the public?  ;)
