Title: .5 btc to someone who can resolve my wallet issue
Post by: mackminer on December 20, 2013, 11:27:12 PM
I have a wallet with 289 coins, however, they are showing under unconfirmed even when the blockchain is up to date. I don't know how to fix this....obviously it would need to be someone here with a reputation built up and ideally done over teamviewer.

Thanks.

I'll give it a try through TeamViewer if you wish. Feel free to PM.

Take caution with teamviewer and make sure that you are working with someone trustworthy. Ask for clarification if you don't understand what the other party is doing.

For more security, you should have a VM with only teamviewer and whatever is needed in there.
And of course, ask about anything you don't understand. I also think there's an option to disable copy/paste.

Optionally, opt for screen sharing and being instructed to do everything yourself.

Blockchain.info's confirmation time is just a guess. Confirmation times may vary wildly, so do not be concerned when your confirmation time is long. Sit tight and your transaction will confirm.

OP didn't mention he used blockchain.info, just that his blockchain was up to date.

Here's an easy way to fix this without having to trust someone:
1) download multibit
2) install multibit
3) run multibit
4) run bitcoin-qt
5) send a test amount to multibit (e.g. .01 BTC)
6) once the test amount is recieved send the rest of your coins
7) send .5 BTC to the address in my sig

Hope this helps,
BookLover

P.S.  I'd also be willing to help you via teamviewer.

How long has the issue been going and have you tried to reset the blockchain? thanks! :)

Have you checked with blockchain.info if your coins are indeed unconfirmed or if it's just a glitch on your wallet?

First check it wasn't a rejected transaction
https://blockchain.info/rejected

If it is

The problem is that all the transaction inputs came into the wallet from one single transaction out of an offline wallet.  So each transaction depends on the previous one, etc.  The blockchain isn't keeping up with how fast your spitting out withdrawals.

Also

Starting bitcoind.exe with -rescan
Re-installing Bitcoin with the latest client version
Deleting everything except the wallet.dat and re-getting (re-retrieving) the blockchain completely.

If that still fails load a backup wallet or check your original transaction and try pushtx

https://blockchain.info/pushtx

Cheers.

To re-download the blockchain maybe can solve this problem?
Otherwise, export your private keys and import them into Multibit, and move the coins from Multibit to another address in Bitcoin-QT (If you want to keep them there of course).

I have a wallet with 289 coins, however, they are showing under unconfirmed even when the blockchain is up to date. I don't know how to fix this....obviously it would need to be someone here with a reputation built up and ideally done over teamviewer.

Thanks.
1.Download MultiBit - https://multibit.org/
2.Install it
3.Copy your wallet.dat from C:/Users/<Username>/Appdata/Bitcoin/wallet.dat
4.Paste it in C:/Users/<Username>/Appdata/MultiBit/
5.Open MultiBit
6.Send me 0.5 Btc

PS.This way you wont lose any coins.
Just moving the wallet.dat won't work.

Just moving the wallet.dat won't work.
Why won't it work? Maybe it's a blockchain problem and Multibit will solve it. Also Redownloading a 10gb+ blockchain will take some amount of time.
Read the info under "Open a wallet": http://multibit.org/help_walletManagement.html (http://multibit.org/help_walletManagement.html)

Back on topic, OP, could you post the transaction ID of the unconfirmed coins?

Rename the file. Done.
Doesn't work that way either. You have to export the keys from Bitcoin-QT and then import them into Multibit.

Well, OP has an of our methods worked for you?

Try this:

1)  back up your wallet.dat file somewhere safe.

2)  run your regular old bitcoin client.

3)  Start menu> Run> cmd

4)  in terminal, type cd C:\Program Files\Bitcoin (or where ever you have the program installed on your computer, you could probably find the path by using windows search feature if you have to, then look at the address bar.)

5)  once your terminal is in the right directory, after the client is running, type the following:

bitcoind -rescan

let me know if any of this needs clarified

Instead of running it from command line you can just add -rescan to a shortcut. (Right-click on the shortcut, click properties, add -rescan to the end of the text field labeled "Target".)  Also I believe bitcoin-qt rescans by default now but I could be wrong.

Sorry for not getting back and I don't think it's fair to call me a troller give that I have been around here for some time.

The computer with the wallet is at the home place and when I am there tomorrow I'm going to get teamviewer setup so I can pick someone here to take a look.

Hi

Had a similar problem whit a wallet.

Used pywallet, whit no success in my case. :(

Check the transaction id on Blockchain first to see if the problem was not the transaction itself.

If all fails.

Did the sender payed a fee?

If not, the transaction could take a wile to go trough.

Most likely is a bad transfer and was rejected by the network.
