Title: Misspelled web site (cyrptsy.com) is a potential phishing site
Post by: btcprice on December 21, 2013, 07:51:02 PM
I recently mistyped the web address for cryptsy.com by switching the "y" and the "r" so it was cyrptsy.com. I didn't realize it at first since it looked just like the original web site so I entered my username and password.

Then I was offered the option to choose my email web site. I had never been asked this before so I became suspicious. I closed out of my web browser.

I then went back in and checked the address history and found the web site to be cyrptsy.com. I logged into my cryptsy.com account and changed my password.

If this happens to you and you enter both your cryptsy.com username/password and your email username/password it may have been detected by cyrptsy.com. I would suggest you change your password for both cryptsy.com and for your email account.

That's why EVERYONE should enable 2 factor authentication.

They might have better success if they relayed a live version.  Even 2fa wouldn't protect you then.

Note: there are two phishing Domains

cyrptsy.com (ry->yr)
cryrptsy.com (one "r" too much)

there have been tonnes of bitstamp phishing domains used.

Just never click on a link to a supposed website. Bookmark the real one and use that.

It's all good baby..

with the consistent negative balances in all my wallets, the thief won't be able to withdraw anything anyways

and with the standard 5 day wait time for any and all withdraws, I'll have enough time to contact admin to notify them if my account is compromised anyway

pshhhh two factor authentication

I went back to the web site to check it out and saw this:

Not Found

The requested URL /users/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.24 (Unix) Server at cryrptsy.com Port 80

I was hoping to find just that. I wanted to make sure the phishing wasn't still there.

Cool. Phishing sites don't tend to last very long for obvious reasons - thieves in the night!
