This is exactly not how people become moderators ;) Pretty sure theymos asks you to be a mod then you accept or deny. Otherwise asking just looks bad and shady.

AFAIK theymos asking you to be one is the only way to become one.  Highlighted for emphasis.

Gonna be honest, when I think of bitpop I'm closer to thinking troll or spammer, certainly not moderator. Your whole 'troll the trolls' schtick hasn't done you any favors.

What problems do you see that you think you can resolve better than others, cause I don't see you ever reporting anything.

Wrong

You have reported 9 posts with 100% accuracy

This is good, it shows I'm not on a power trip and will intervene only when necessary.

Picking out the obvious isn't a special skill, that's what only 9 reports with 100% accuracy says.

Holy shit bitpop, you as a mod! You would be as horrible a mod as I would be. I like to troll but I also like to get involved in real debates and, at least part of the time, help out new members that can't figure something out. I've seen you do that too but your delivery of even simple help is so bizarre and harsh that it would be taken as insulting half of the time and not believed the other half. Think about DnT (not that I'm comparing you to him). He's brilliant and knows more about Bitcoin than any other 10 people here. He could be a wonderful resource but is so harsh in delivery that I won't ask him any questions for fear that I won't survive the attack. Would you want HIM as a mod.

You shouldn't want to be a mod anyway. It would cut down on your troll time.

Wrong

How is this accuracy counted exactly? I just reported a spambot, clicked back and it already had accepted it and added to my accuracy score. I assumed a mod would check it before granting a plus or minus point.

The number of reports is the raw number of reports, but the percentage only updates when the report is processed by a moderator.

Although, I marked one of your reports bad by accident once, and I feel bad about it  :( the handled/bad report options jump around when you update them.

I've seen this rule on another forum, and I think that it's good:
"Chiunque intenda diventare moderatore puņ fare ufficiale richiesta, ma chi chiede di diventare moderatore non puņ moderare."

Everyone who wants to be a moderator can do an official request, but everyone who asks to be a moderator can't moderate.

Can you specify more how I cannot contribute, as you so eloquently put it, "shit"? This is the kind of reply that would be unwarranted from a moderator, due to how immensely nonconstructive it is.

And can you actually cite a statistically-significant cross-section of my posts?

In reality, there isn't nearly as much "power" here as other forums. Bitcointalk is pretty big on freedom of speech, and not interfering with people unless completely necessary.

Don't slit your wrists. I know you aren't a power monger. You really were picked as Smoothies babysitter. lol

There are some mods here though that would gut the forum of half the members if theymos weren't in charge. Think about this concept. This forum is a place for young people to learn about a finance tool (boring) that has geopolitical underpinnings (really boring) that can replace antiquated systems like ACH/EFT (God fucking kill me now boring). The trolls and unusual behaviors of some of the more colorful members keep the young people interested long enough for the meat & potatoes of Bitcoin to sink in.

Please pm me if I can bribe you. Pgp please.

You can send coins the address in my signature. I don't know what a bribe would do for you besides getting me to say "thank you". Maybe I could convince the rest of the staff to take you off the burn list, I MEAN uh...

Seriously though, I have recieved some rather odd offerings before though, never anything scandalous or exciting though. I would have figured people here would have the imagination to come up with some sort of a bribe terms that would be worthwhile. Most of the time people just ask me for alt coin trading advice.

I just normally tell them for free, to mine CommyCoin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=82726.0

On the Topic. I think a few more moderators preferably in different time zones wouldn't be so bad for the Forum.

You could certainly argue that but the point is a comparison about users that are not trying to apply for mods and how many threads they report by comparison.

(Or you could just see it as a dick comparison, which there certainly is an element of it to the post).

A mod should IMO also have some kind of good example function.

This Forum (and therefore Bitcoin) looks totally scammy to new people (that don't know yet what Bitcoin exactly is) if half of it's Users advertise for Gamblin and dodgy investments with signal color sigs.

I don't know why this was buried in all the talk about ckolivas, but congratulations on your new position as a Bitcoin Talk Moderator.

Pretty sure he's not a moderator.

Great observation the lack of the title may of confused me.

You quoted the wrong person there  :D.

How's that contradictory?

Claiming to be honest whilst lying about being a mod.  ;D

Bitpop is not the mod BTCTalk deserved but the mod BTCTalk needed. Nothing less than a knight. Shining.

I would like to formally apply to become a moderator. Thank you.

I vote for you to become a moderator. Why don't you do a poll? I like your replies and helpfulness, also you are always around.  :)

A mod should IMO also have some kind of good example function.

This Forum (and therefore Bitcoin) looks totally scammy to new people (that don't know yet what Bitcoin exactly is) if half of it's Users advertise for Gamblin and dodgy investments with signal color sigs.

That you take part in this disqualifies you IMO

Being bitpop is the part that disqualified him. Other than that he'd be fine.  ;)

Yay, knew I'd break a milestone:
You have reported 1000 posts with 99% accuracy
Shame about accuracy dropping below 100%. I'm quite sure every thread I reported was relevant, so not sure why it wasn't.
Nobody seems to do the obvious:
I nominate ckolivas for moderator!
Actually this would be nice just for cleaning up the fucking trainwreck my forum thread gets every time I have psychopaths come in trolling for pages on end that no one else seems interested in cleaning up, like the last few days have been... bitpop if you really are a new moderator, get to work!

So what is the outcome? Did bitpop make the cut, or was this joke?

Let's go with that option

LOL. Totally not funny, but I didn't have a clue what a mod's job until I read this thread... I just couldn't stomach this being a serious inquiry is all. Hell, I think I might've been modin' on a couple of the gambling threads when I was actually trying to troll! I need a lesson or two.
