Title: [SOLD] (x2) Gigabyte WF3 7950s w/ original boxes and cables. $600/shipped.
Post by: ny2cafuse on December 24, 2013, 06:49:40 AM
I have two Gigabyte Windforce3 7950s that I would like to sell to make room for cards I just acquired.  I would keep these for another rig, but I just don't have the room for them.  These come in the original boxes with the cables.  I have had these in my main computer since March/April when I bought them new.  I mined on them for maybe 2-3 months for 10-15 hours a day, with temps usually in the low/mid 70s to 80-81 max(depending on ambient temp in house).  When I gave up on the Litecoin difficulty, these were mainly used for light to medium gaming for about 4-5 months.  They have been flashed with the F43 bios and they are capable of loading a second bios via a switch by the crossfire pins.  The fans spin freely, and there is no sign of fan breakdown... whining, louder than normal noises, etc.  I have noticed that one card is running a bit warmer than normal while hashing.  I read when I originally bought them that these cards are known for using sub-par thermal grease.  A new application of thermal grease would cost $5, and they would run at 100% instead of the 95% they run at now.  With modified cgminer bin files, I get 640kh per card at 76-77 degrees on the top card and 70 on the bottom.  Like I said though the one card is running hotter, and is usually at about 71-72 degrees.  I do run the cards in an open case with an extra fan to move air (the wife likes the house like a sauna, so I give them a little breeze).

I'd like to sell them as a pair, in the US, to save on shipping.  I offered them to miners on my pool first, and I have received a few offers, but I'd like to weigh my options.  Payment in BTC only.  Post any questions you have here, or PM me offers.

Pic lighting and device are a little crappy, but I can assure you they look almost brand new:

I'd offer $200 each in BTC. I just picked up two R9 280x's for $370.

Sorry, mate.  You're way below what I've been offered by my pool members.  I'd be interested in a possible trade for a 280X and some coin, depending on the 280X brand.

I offer .7 BTC.

Still below what I've been offered.

With the exception of needing some new thermal paste, these are like brand new.  They hash like a beast and are quieter than most cards out there.

would you consider selling one?

I'd rather sell the pair, as the shipping would be cheaper with both together rather than separate.  Like I said, I've got a pretty decent offer from a pool member, so it would have to top that offer per card for me to consider it.

Checked prices on Ebay, and this card is $260-280+ on bids with 2+ days left, and buy it now prices are $370+.  Amazon has them used for $360+.

I'd like to not have to go through the hassle of Ebay or Amazon.  Make me an offer I can't refuse.

Ya GPU prices are jacked right now. Several months ago I sold my 7970 GHz for 300 and bought a pair of 7950s for 200 each. Now the 7970s are 400, and the 7950s are 300.

I don't think they're jacked, it's that prices are just following the laws of supply and demand right now.  GPUs are tough to come by at a decent price.  But hypothetically speaking, even if someone was to buy the pair for $600, shipping included, and mined one of the top 10 coins on coinwars, they would make their money back in 40 days or less.  I would keep these and continue to use them, but I seriously need some coin right now.  That and I honestly don't have the room for another rig in the house, or the breakers to support them.

They're jacked

Thanks for the input, grendel  ::)

What's jacked is people paying 5x what a block eruptor is worth, knowing damn well that they will never make their money back for a very long time, if ever.  You will make your money back in a month and a half max on GPUs.  That's why people are still buying new 280Xs, emptying stock daily, at $400+ when the MSRP is $300.  Higher priced, yes... jacked, no.

I've received an offer for $600 shipped, with escrow.  If nobody else can beat that, I'm selling.

First, congratulations to the buyer/seller in this exchange.  Glad you are in congruence.  Second, this is not about block erupters.  Jacked prices are jacked.  What you will or WON'T make back is purely speculative in a highly volatile circumstance.  The buyer has assumed more risk than I would have.  Don't believe the hype.  Good luck to all and here's to a bad ass 2014.

Sorry, mate... I wanted to move fast on these to have some coin to spend.

Grendel...

I can see why you chose your name lol.... jk.  One of the greatest antiogists in literature.

Quote
Till the monster stirred, that demon, that fiend
Grendel who haunted the moors, the wild
Marshes, and made his home in a hell.
Not hell but hell on earth.
He was spawned in that slime
Of Cain, murderous creatures banished
By God, punished forever for the crime
Of Abel's death.

Can I ask why hype you're talking about?  It's pretty easy to understand why GPUs are scarce right now.  GPU mining is earning ROI far greater than any other form of mining right now, save the ASICs that are sitting in the hands of the devs that are "running final tests", waiting to release them to the public.  I bought these cards a while back, mined on them for a short time, made a lot of money(in my standards), and decided to find a new home for them to make room for newer equipment that I bought and am going to buy(mostly with money I made from mining on these cards).  I paid X for these cards, and I made 4X from these cards, mostly in the first couple months of mining.  There's no hype there... just math, mate :)

Yes, I said, congrats to the buyer/seller.  Yes, I'm frustrated at the November and early December sales at $300 and lower sales of such cards.  It's also apparent that people hoarded the Asrock H81 mobos.  So I interject 'hype' because brand new 280x's are attainable for as much, even now. And... there are alternates to the Asrock H81 for just as much as the inflated black market resale.

Yes, it's hype.  Math is always present in most things we do, just like oxygen.

It's all good, I'll soon have a solution.  Just working at it.  Wish me luck, please.
