Title: Catcoin vs Kittehcoin
Post by: mac-coin on December 24, 2013, 08:16:24 PM
So we now have Catcoin and Kittehcoin

Catcoin,  Terrible launch and a litecoin wallet, lol,  But fundamentally a good coin, low coin count, difficult to mine and no pre-mine.

Kittehcoin,  Better ish launch, had to hunt for the wallet, not many pools working.  Too many coins to ever have a high value per coin.

Lets hear your thoughts

NYANCoin is going to rock the world!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QH2-TGUlwu4

After viewing that video you will all switch your miners to NYAN. Either that or you'll suicide.

p.s. look at the amount of views on that! :o

hmmm.....

Kittehcoin is better because qmake and make for the git file worked on ubuntu 12.04 and catcoin did not.

I like Catcoin better because it's a pure Scrypt version of Bitcoin. Even BTC2 couldn't get that part right. Catcoin preserves the same retarget schedule, block time, block reward, and reward halving of Bitcoin with the only thing changed being SHA256->Scrypt. I just wish it were released under a more serious pretense.

I chose to mine kittehcoin before going to sleep last night. It looked like the more popular one. NOw Catcoin is more popular. Kittehcoin is similar to Doge in coin amounts and makes sense as a competitor to have that scheme. Cat coin is going after bitcoin thunder(21million), a much more ambitious feat. I cant deiced which to mine anymore i quess both. in.the.end there can only be one, may or may not be true.

Catcoin had a horrible launch and is more or less the same as litecoin,

Starting difficulty was extremely low, which with current gpu miners results in an instamine.

Also, kittehcoin has been steadily gaining hash

How is Catcoin in any way like Litecoin?

Neither. FedoraCoin is the only winner here.

Can we have an option like "shot them both nine times" ?
Sometimes enough is enough , no joke is funny when you tell it 100 times to the same person.

I really don't understand your last statement.
It is supposed to be something that good , means this coin is a success?

Hashing means more people hoping to get their hands on the coins and converts them to btc when it (if) goes up in price and nothing more.
When it's not profitable anymore they will switch to another new launched coin.

Call me when the first alt coin hits the 100 merchants target.

litecoin has the same retarget schedule, same per-coin retarget schedule, same per-coin reward schedule.

you're trying to create a coin that is based on scrypt?  take a look around at dogecoin, catcoin, and all of the other altcoins that sprung up after litecoin.  like it or not, litecoin has a lot to do with all of the scrypt coins out there, with catcoin being released so sloppily it still refers to litecoins in its own wallet.

CATCOIN IS USING THE LITECOIN SOURCE CODE.  and you're trying to create another litecoin.  woo hoo, join the party  ::)

I first thought, obviously Kittehcoin, it's more memelike so a good competitor for DOGE and it has the same amount of units.

But I just saw the popularity of Catcoin, and I think both can exist, one as a meme and one as a coin for people who like cats and just people who invest and whatever.

Mined more Kittehcoin though, not sure if smart.

Looks like the other coins aren't getting released. Just Catcoin vs. Kittehcoin at this point.

And Catcoin is dropping like crazy on cryptsy at the moment.

KittyCoin, not yet launched. Think it's a SHA-256. NyanCoin. Not yet launched either.
