Title: Bitcoin to the Rescue(?)
Post by: Phinnaeus Gage on August 21, 2011, 03:51:12 AM
The Fall of Groupon: Is the Daily Deals Site Running Out of Cash? http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2011/08/the-fall-of-groupon-is-the-daily-deals-site-running-out-of-cash/243863/

Although the article may read as if Groupon has turned itself into a Ponzi scheme, the bottom line is they need to revamp their entire business model to reverse their downward spiral.

Bitcoin to the rescue.

But here's the rub: I offer up no solutions in the first post of this new thread. I'm just the idea guy here. Upon reading the article, I felt Bitcoin could be a solution prior to its forthcoming woes, if the article is of any indication alluring to that fact. I also feel that there are much better brainiacs than I on this board more able to articulate a path to lead Groupon and Bitcoin to the altar.

I suggest reading the article while having Bitcoin as Groupon's band-aid on your mind.

With that said, OK GO!

Feel free to photoshop this image. I think you know what aspect I'm referring to. Just Do It!

Nicholas Jackson declared only a couple of weeks ago: (Aug 8 )
"The Bitcoin Economy Is Collapsing With No Sign of Recovery"

He's clearly a trashy journalist. Ignore him.

Why bitcoin? And with all the article explain, bitcoin would not be enough (if it would be a plus)

Your point about NJ is well taken, julz.

But what about this: http://personalmoneynetwork.com/moneyblog/2011/08/03/businesses-consumers-turning-on-groupon/

and this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/catanach-says-groupon-reporting-twice-amount-of-revenue/2011/08/19/gIQAWkKuQJ_video.html

Clearly, it looks as if Groupon is heading to the... unless, with suggestions from this community, Bitcoin saves the day.

Why Bitcoin? Because I first suggested this idea over on another forum called BieberWorld, of which I'm a founding member, and they kindly told me to present my idea at BitcoinTalk. Now I'm thinking, why not combine both camps, for that should be enough.

I guess, ffuentes, I'm just offering up this thought experiment to get our creative juices flowing. Clearly, Groupon will not be embracing Bitcoin anytime soon, but WHAT IF?

Since turnabout is fair play, I couldn't resist either (or is it either?). I look forward to this change in your signature.

I'm not a native English speaker, therefore please bring to my attention any grammatical errors found in my posts.

BTW, LOL to your posted image. I liked it.

I can't remember what I was reading when I first stumbled upon Bitcoin. Can you? It's amazing how the internet has changed our lives. Moreover, although it's still in its infancy, it'll even be more amazing to watch Bitcoin change the lives of billions--worldwide--in the days to come.
