Title: Multi GPU setup on older chipset board
Post by: djeZo on December 25, 2013, 04:14:25 PM
I have an older P43 + ICH10 chipset board, which has 4 PCIe x1 slots. Will I be able to plug and utilize 4 video cards?

This is manual of the motherboard: http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-ep43-%28d%29s3l%28r%29_e.pdf

Scroll to page 9 - there is block diagram. If anyone knows definite answer. The chipset is old and most of people usually use newer chipsets. I could not find any references regarding older chipsets and multi GPU setups.

Thanks!

Yes, it should do 5 cards with the right OS as none of the PCI slots are shared at a BIOS level. You will need to check driver availability for whatever OS you are choosing but it should be a good mobo.
