I do have a suggestion. Maybe add a message to the frontpage of the pool stating that sometimes it does glitch and it appears that you aren't earning coins (even though you actually are). I've seen several miners only mine for a few minutes on the pool because they think that they are not earning any coins. When difficulty is so low that a block is found instantly, no share is inserted into the database for that block. So cronjob is stucked and can not pay the block rewards.
