Title: PS3 Mining Post by: markonegolf on December 26, 2013, 05:50:59 PM I've got two old PS3s laying about. Is there any coin that I could mine with these or is it simply not worth the electricity? Can they do CPU only coins, like Quark or Primecoin?

If you mine scrypt with two PS3 this says you'll get about 38kh each. If you dont pay for power then every little bit adds up, otherwise probably not worth it apart from an exercise in trying stuff out. They are both suffering from YLOD currently but I was going to take them apart and do the old motherboard in the oven trick. Has worked pretty well before.
I've got 2 R9 280x hashing at 780kh/s each and I'm just waiting for another motherboard for another two. I have to pay for my electricity so the few extra kh/s on the PS3s wouldn't really be worth it.
