Title: Intermittent Fasting for weight loss
Post by: ultrareich23 on May 16, 2018, 09:09:51 AM
I had tried intermittent fasting for 3 months now. Before the fast my weight was 85 kg, after 3 months it went down to 69 kg. The process includes fasting for 12-16 hours, typically when we are sleeping. There is a 5-6 hours window time to eat usually between lunch time and 6pm dinner. After 6pm beyond, no food and only water is allowed. I hope this would help.

Continuous fasting to lose weight is an effective method but many times it causes you to have low blood pressure dizziness

Thanks for this! I've been planning to do intermittent fasting for quite some time now but I've never really committed. Now that I know it can bring down my weight THAT much, I'll give it a try now.  ;D

I don't think fasting is healthy, especially not every day. You should at least eat in between meals. Even a little, healthy snack is better than not having anything after 6pm. If you continue doing this, this may take a toll on your body.

Right, I used this method before, 16/8. 16 hours fasting and 8 hours window for eating. My schedule for my loading is 2 pm - 10 pm. I also hit the gym without any food.

It's very difficult at the beginning because of the hunger pains, but I learn to control it and my senses are even sharp when I'm on IF, but damn when it's time to eat, I eat like a pig and I don't give a f**k as how calories I intake because I know I need to feed that body right away. Lol. I did this like 5 days in a week and 2 days off or cheating day.

Not be careful though, this method is not for everyone specially if you have some kind of conditions. I know it's effective method but you need to be very disciplined as well. So before someone wanted to try this method, better consult with your physician first. This is not for the faint of heart.

The idea of intermittent fasting for weight loss is a great idea. It is also a great idea for anti-aging. One of the master anti-aging scientists, David Sinclair, uses intermittent fasting both, to keep his weight down, and to stay young. ~ snip ~

I don't know about the anti-aging effect though, but I have been doing IF's even if I'm a type 2 diabetic and so far I haven't had any side effects. Actually it really help me lower and most of the time normalizes my blood sugar without me taking any medications.

But I still continue to monitor by blood sugar and I'm not saying this is a perfect cure, it's a combination of diet and exercise as well.

In the 14-16 hour period is when your body enters the kickstarts ketosis. It's when you reach full ketosis, it takes careful planning and extreme carb limiting, but intermittent fasting provides a shortcut to this fat-burning state. Once your body drains glucose, it is forced to burn through its fat reserves for energy in a process called ketosis. Ketosis improves your blood chemistry, reduces inflammation, and helps you drop weight fast. Within 5-8 weeks it's probable that you'll lose 8-12 lbs. Btw, try and invest to Bitrus (BTRS) it's an award-winning trading platform that supports a wide array of new and unique platfotms. It also gives 50 BTRS coins for early access investors and 50% discount on trading fees.

I agree with you that Intermittent Fasting is a very good method to lose weight and also build muscles. Unfortunetly a lot of trainers are promoting this as a bad method, probably because they have never tried it before and thats why this method is not so popular amoung people that visit gyms regulary.

During my time at the University, I learned through a training course that fasting is not recommended, because breakfast represents the most important meal of the day, if you want to reduce it, it is best to reduce food at dinner, try to eat balanced and exercise, since fasting can bring fatal problems over the years.

Or maybe because those trainers doesn't understand the physiology of muscles. I tried doing weight lifting under IF and I must say that it doesn't affect my training at all. I can still lift the same amount of weights even in IF, so it's a good method if you really wanted to loss weight and gain muscles, as per my experience with IF.

Continued fasting will help you reduce the body weight. Does it assure with the retaining of body shape. People without proper workouts just reduce the food consumption. For a better and healthy living one should follow workouts along with fasting or diets.

But the thread is all about Intermittent Fasting, this is not a diet per se. Of course you can just reduced your food consumption, but what makes IF different is that you will not end for almost the duration of the whole day. So this is a big challenge for those who wanted to lose that extra pounds.

Intermittent fasting is also best when people also eat low carb foods. Doing IF for 16:8 and eat low carb food during your feasting will help somehow to speed up the weight loss. Just eat meat, eggs and seafood and eat until you're full.

But for beginners, it's advise to just eat first low carb food and don't do IF first. This will allow our body to adjust in the changes thus will turn our body to the ketosis. Always listen to your body.

My plan was to keep my normal diet and to start adjusting to the 16:8 schedule so me and my body can get used to the schedule. After that i plan to start lowering my carb intake. Would that be a workable plan or do you advise something else?

Not fasting that can make your weight go down, but in fasting there is a regular diet because it is what can make our body healthy and not too much unnecessary intake.

Yes, this kind of fasting has been proven to be one of the most effective one. You need discipline when following the daily allocated time for eating and for not eating.

Because it doesn't mean just because you are in the window time for eating, you'll eat as much as you want. You still need to control yourself.

I get so hungry while I am fasting, that I speed up my fast. I make my fast go so fast that I get over it with long before it should have been over, and I don't lose much weight because of this.

Intermittent fasting together with drinking warm water instead of cold will make fats lose faster and this is proven for my friend (of course not on me because i am in keto diet)

And also with exercise and enough sleep to make our body more healthy and functional

Exercise needs a lot of energy. In order to fully have enough energy, you need to eat nutritious food.

No hunger strike, no diet, no fasting needed. It is enough to moderate your appetite and not overeat every day. Verified personally.

This is true you just need self discipline when it comes to food you eat. Lessen the carbo intake instead eat more fruits and veggies.

I agree with you that it's really great for weight loss But I think they should be avoided for fast food and oily foods. If we cannot avoid these foods then there will be no benefit from fasting.

Yes it speeds up weight loss but you still need to be careful with total daily calories (in the time window you consume them). Excess calories will still become fat but it's harder to overeat in a restricted time window, at least for me.

In this fasting method, you may think that we can eat the three meals in the two times but in reality we can't eat much as you for everyone else as well. But it may not help you to lose weight only with diet it also should be followed by our daily workout routine so more calories will get burned from our body fat.

My cousin uses some tools to calculate how many calories he should consume. He told me you could eat as much rice as you want, but you don't add more even if you still hungry. I don't know what method he used, but in 4 months ago, he succeeds to have a shaped body than before. That is a big success of him that amazes many of our members family, but he told that not all people could do like what he did because before we eat, we should know the amount of the calorie, so we don't break the limit.

There are apps on the play store and app store that does the counting.

That is what the dietitians emphasizing for people that want to reduce weight, the calorie counting is a must. And with your cousin, he stopped eating because it's no longer the eating period.

And it's one of the hardest things to do when you're on a diet. Control is needed.

This type of fasting gives less workload for your internal organs so you feel more energetic and you can keep doing this because this do no harm to your health as far as I know. And also you can increase or decrease the fasting time as for your convenience.

Continuous fasting to lose weight is an effective method but many times it causes you to have low blood pressure dizziness

This is just one problem that it is visible.
When fasting for so many hours during the day and for a long period of time more problems are caused that are "on the background".
The best diet includes small lunches every 3 hours - by fasting you stop the flow of your body.

This period of 12-16 hours of noneating works somehow, it is kind of fasting, I tried it and I lost some weight.
It is actually fasting and that's what the title says. Before doing this, if you are unsure of trying it consult a doctor. This also varies to your health condition.

It works mostly for everybody but if you have a health issue, this could worsen it.

Fasting is not the right effective ingredient for weight loss It makes the body worse Not just headaches but health problems also make the body more resistant to various diseases. Therefore the right thing to do in case of intermittent fasting is to pay attention to your diet and follow a regular diet If there are more problems consult a doctor.

It is not advisable if you are just trying it out. You must consult a doctor first because instead of benefiting from it, you might get sick if your body can't do it.

There are alternative weight loss methods, so, if this don't work for you, you can checkt those methods.

I would if I could, but the problem is that I work mostly at night and up until the wee hours of the early morning. Do you have an alternate suggestion regarding "Intermittent Fasting for weight loss" for those who work during the night shift instead?

This method does work, ngl. I tried it,lost a bunch of weight. never trying it again tho, I was literally starving and mentally scattered by the end.

It's not for everyone.

I did this for so many times and I just can't help myself but to cut the fast and take my meals. It's very effective and feels your body sort of renewed.

But for me, food is life.  ;D
