Title: How much would it cost to build something with these specs or better myself? Post by: Bitcoin-hotep on December 26, 2013, 08:21:14 PM Intel Core i7-2600 (8MB Cache) Overclocked Turbo Boost to 3.9GHz
16GB DDR3 Memory, 8TB SATA 3Gb/s 7,200RPM Quad Hard Drive (2TB x 4), Single Drive: 24X DVDRW Dual Layer (DVD+/-RW, CD-RW) NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1.5GB Memory, Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio Title: Re: How much would it cost to build something with these specs or better myself? Post by: Kluge on December 26, 2013, 08:26:35 PM CPU - $340
RAM - $200 HDDs - $400 Optical drive - No clue. Who the Hell uses discs? $20? Gfx - $60 MoBo (w 6950M), case, PSU - $400 Ttl: $1420 (+- $200) ETA: Ah. I see what you're doing. Doze key - $125, decent keyboard & mouse - $50, competently-installed water cooling - $200, rizzle prizzle - $1795 (+-$250) ETA2: No idea why you'd want to water-cool that, though, unless you're really stressing that CPU.... They do list "ATI Radeon HD 6950" as a "co-processor" (I have no idea what that means... I didn't know there was an onboard 6950 version) which is worth ~$250 new (if full-fledged). ETA3: Huh. Waddya know... there is a 6950M. What a bizarre choice when using a weak NVIDIA card as the dedicated. Updated lists. Post by: Bitcoin-hotep on December 26, 2013, 09:01:45 PM I am not going to use this to mine I am just asking for help with building an equivalent to a bad ass alienware
I will be making a mining rig soon though If I got these two things What else would I need? http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CXACPN0/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=22UQHYGA6B63Q&coliid=I1V3DS4OEJBTUW http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=22UQHYGA6B63Q&coliid=ISRIYCE17CHPU Edit: Those are for the mining rig not for the Alienware knock off I will look for parts now that you helped me out I wouldn't have even known what to call all those things like CPU and stuff Title: Re: How much would it cost to build something with these specs or better myself? Post by: Bitcoin-hotep on December 26, 2013, 09:06:24 PM It might just be easier to buy a pre-built alienware comparing prices
