Title: Mining w/4830
Post by: jurassicfrog on December 28, 2013, 07:11:00 AM
Anyone gotten cgminer running on a 4830? I know it's not much but I'm hashing with a 6870 at the moment and as it's my regular machine I have to drop the intensity to use it for day to day tasks. I was hoping to get a thread running on both cards at the same time but I'm having a hard time getting cgminer to recognize it (the 4830), even with an older version (2.10 I believe). I know it won't be very fast but I was hoping it would at least be of value. I'm not going to be able to drop some cash on any hardware in the foreseeable future. Oh... I'm mining scrypt coins (probably obvious).

Thanks!

Mining with a 4830 won't be profitable.Unless you have "free" electricity. It  will get a bit less than 100kh/s with overclocking.

Maybe you could switch the cards, mine with the 6870 in another computer and use the 4830 with your work computer? Or just buy some cheap Nvidia, use it for working (you can get a good one for 50€ or $) and mine with the 6870. Then when you get some cash from mining you can buy a better card like a 7950, r9 280 or r9 290  ;D

Check coinwarz.com often and mine the most profitable coin to get the most out of your gpu.
