Post by: mute20 on August 23, 2011, 06:37:26 PM
I am gonna take a guess and say it will increase. Not by much maybe by 30000. What do you think will happen?

<gribble> Current Blocks: 142295 | Current Difficulty: 1805700.8361937 | Next Difficulty At Block: 143135 | Next Difficulty In: 840 blocks | Next Difficulty In About: 5 days, 12 hours, 46 minutes, and 0 seconds | Next Difficulty Estimate: 1889494.31183074

<gribble> 4.64049603109 % estimated difficulty change this period

i'm thinking it could go higher as ppl come back from other *coins and there are still (believe it or not) ppl adding mining hardware to the network.

Are these spikes caused by variance in solving blocks or are they actually caused by adding and taking away network hashes?  It seems strange that 3 thash would be added and taken away in just a few days...

Every time a new coin comes out around 1 - 2 TH moves around. If another coin is more profitable, a TH or 2 might go to that coin as well.

Luck also plays a factor, but a lot of mining power has been moving around back and forth with the new coins.
