Cool! We need as many retailers as possible to start accepting Bitcoins!

This is really great, we need more and more places to spend the coin to give it more power.

But from the first line of the article

"Shave and a haircut — two bitcoins?"

Dam thats an expensive shave and haircut.

Not really much said in it, but nice that retailers are seeing a postive side to BTC.

Hello, What is the best online shopping sites and offline retailers accepting bitcoin payment ?

To name a couple: overstock, dell.com, gyfts (for all giftcards!) and expedia (I think they still accept them, not sure)

more and more places are accepting bitcoin. It will only continue to grow over time.

My tip: Get some bitcoin and store it for a "sunny day" when the value shoots up into the thousands (a year or two).

It's fine if we get more merchants.
However, it's not fine, if they just follow the money, and they convert all their bitcoin received, back to fiat.
This will just #$$^^ the price, due to over supply of bitcoins, back into the market. ^Frown^
We all know, that the more Bitcoins that are for sale, will decrease the value. ^Sad^

Yep. We need more merchants and retailers to use and accept bitcoin. However, until bitcoin don't see widespread adoption, these retailers and merchants will only accept bitcoin AND sell it off for fiat to be used for expenses and maintenance. Because of this, bitcoin's value would be compromised. But a small sacrifice for a greater result isn't bad, right? :)

Bitcoin is not so widespread yet.
Retailers will eventually adopt bitcoin to gain market share when more people adopts bitcoin as a currency.

While spending bitcoin will create the same effect as selling bitcoin on the price, it is what bitcoin is designed for as a payment system. It is IMO not a good idea if everyone is hodling their bitcoin, as bitcoin will become useless.

Yup exactly. Unless one day the merchants are able to pay their employees/landlords/product suppliers/taxes etc in bitcoin, I don't think they will be comfortable acceping bitcoin directly and holding it for an extended period, considering the big fluctuation on bitcoin price.

Retailers will start to accept BTC, when more and more people will use BTC, at this stage there are just some retailers, who accept BTC. Banks will not like this, I think.

The most important thing is for people to be able to buy bitcoins easily without much hassle, which is not the case at this point.

Non tech people must see the benefit of bitcoin, currently they think if I can pay and buy everything right now already, why should I take extra effort to buy and use bitcoin?

Article is more than a year old, but I would say retailer adoption has not yet taken off.
