Title: Where are these Avalon 200 GH/s miners coming from?
Post by: cryptonomicoin on December 29, 2013, 06:26:39 AM
Been window shopping for ASICs lately and have been coming across a bunch of Avalon 55nm miners, especially on eBay.  They all look the same and ship from Hong Kong... where are they coming from?  (Are they coming from different places?)  Have they been out long, and are they reliable?  If I wanted my hands on one straight from the source, where would I go?

I know that there are better miners out there... just curious, though.  Were there any mentions of these miners in the forums in the past, apart from those of retailers saying that they have 'em in stock?  thanks in advance.

Yeah these are the new Avalon Miners that use "new" 55nm chip instead of the old 110nm.  Avalon has 5 or 6 official resellers that are based in China so you will see these being sold a lot.  You can go on Taobao "China's E-Bay" and get them cheaper than usual sometimes.  Here is Avalon's official site - www.avalon-asics.com

I expect they all come out of china.

There is a thread in the group buy section of this forum

But they are seriously overpriced and will never mine what they cost.

The antminer is currently 3.15btc for less power useage and same hashrate, but even that's very unlikely to recoup it's cost.
