Hi everyone

I am a Newbie.

Greeting!

Hello everyone. This is my first post. I am wondering is there anything that can be done to prevent the banks from manipulating the bitcoin exchange rate with High Frequency Trading (HFT). My concern is that the banks can buy an excessive amount of BTCs and then sell them all at once and use HFT to buy even more at the cheaper rate. They can repeat this until they own enough BTC to control the market.   Are there mechanisms to control this type of manipulation?
My next question to the moderator is when will I as a newbie be able to post this question to the proper forum that deals with bank involvement in Bitcoin?
I have made a Youtube video on Introduction to Bitcoin that I would like to share with all of you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvGh-Z00SeY&feature=c4-overview&list=UU9rOAPUfZe3KEja0vvFpe_A (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvGh-Z00SeY&feature=c4-overview&list=UU9rOAPUfZe3KEja0vvFpe_A)

Welcome, banks can do it, but do they?
My question is "Can they?" Are there mechanisms in the Bitcoin protocol that prevent High Frequency Trading? If a miner approves a transaction that is so big that it looks like it can be disruptive and manipulative, or if there are other suspicious signs, can other miners refuse to accept those transactions from the blockchain?  Do Bitcoin exchanges have any mechanisms against HFTs?

Welcome Guys
Welcome to the forum
in Newbie posts i can see a lot of questions regarding to 360 seconds and some Activity
360 second restrictions are something temporal for new registered members
and in our meaning this 360 seconds is to read whatever we need in the forum
almost all the question are been already answered in the forum so you can search for that
if you doidnt get any answer you can post new of in some similar topic you can reply
Good Luck

Hello and welcome everyone.  Are you really all new and just posting hello here?  I think you can get out of newbies only today  if you just give it a little while and make a few posts.  Make sure you read so you're not asking the same question everyone already asked!

Hello Admins,

I just wanted to say that it would be nice if there was somewhere written in this forum telling me that I cant post anywhere other than the newbie section so I wouldnt waste 5 days frustratedly looking for the REPLY button, searching in my member profile for clues or hint of why I cant post. Not a very sweet way to welcome newbies but hey Im here! Finally I found out how and where I can post.

I am new to the virtual currency thing and man it looks like its a hackers world, multiple levels of protections and captchas, every single pool owner seems deceitful and stealing, and the general sense of untruthfulness is just mind boggling. Add that to the fact that majority of the english speaking people here are from all over the world and the english, specially the British slang, is so confusing.

Hello World! and Happy New Year!

Yooo! Newbie here, about to go pro!

I'm not that noobish though. Been reading on a lot on cryptocurrencies (been lurking around here for weeks), even mined a few coins here and there. Here to learn a fair bit more though. Crypto to the moon!

Currently having my eyes set on ltc, wdc and eac and hoping for things to go up with the dawn of the new year. That's all folks!

Hi! I'm also a newbie on this forum.

I recently (as in today) found this forum and decided to join since I like to dabble in altcoins, and I'm currently looking at getting into BitCoin. I should, however, admit that this post is mostly aimed at breaking the newbie jail. That being said, I guess there is some value in writing this since I'm sort of proving that I am indeed a human, and not a robot.

Anyways. Happy new year and all that. Hopefully the upward trend for crypto currencies will continue in the new year!

Not sure I like the having to wait part.  I want to post in a pool specific forum regarding how I solved a pool specific issue, so it's not like I am going to post some random newbie question.  I also read all of the posts every day, so I don't even feel like a newbie.

In any case, I appreciate having this venue and I have received tons of good info from it.

Hi all. I'm new as well. I've been mining litecoin for about a year and I've been reading about Bitcoin for quite a few years now. Watching but unable/unwilling to take the plunge on mining BTC. I missed the big payday on BTC, but I strongly believe in the need for crypto-currencies.

So, I'm joining up here and I'm planning on hopefully taking part in a group buy or two for some asic miners...Maybe we'll see some scrypt asics come down the pipeline in 2014 as well. Good time to be into crypto-currency in general! Good luck everyone for a strong 2014!

Hello, here is another one.  ;D

I have to say that I am trying to search for some help here on the forum for several hours now and I am NOT able find any useful NEWBIE step by step guide. I found some advices like use GUIMiner when you are beginner but later on I found that it is not supported anymore and that I should use CGMiner etc.

Can anyone finally post some link to a thread for NEWBIES if you understand what I am looking for?

Thanks

Hi All,
Another newbie here.  Had to register because I need to PM ukyo about the BitFunder mess.  I still have funds stuck in BF with no way of moving them to WeEx.  Just lovely getting scammed like this after all the effort to acquire my (almost) half a BitCoin :)

Hope you all have a great 2014 BitCoin year!
