Post by: Vladdirescu87 on May 17, 2018, 04:56:31 PM
One of the largest financial services companies, HSBC Holdings Plc, reported that it had conducted the world's first finance operation using blockchain technology. The financial technology is expected to improve the efficiency of financing international trade significantly.
Vivek Ramachandran, HSBC's global head of innovation and growth for commercial banking, said in the statement:
"With blockchain, the need for paper reconciliation is removed because all parties are linked on the platform and updates are instantaneous"

Old story

The 1st trade transaction using a blockchain happened on this forum, in 2010. HSBC appear to be taking credit, and I always assumed the 10 thousand BTC pizzas were ordered by bitcointalk member Laszlo, not HSBC! Maybe there's something Laszlo wasn't telling back then... ;D

Ha ha. That is true. What was even more authentic in the sale of pizzas in 2010 was that the settlement of value took place using the blockchain. In HSBC’s case, the use of blockchain is incidental and primarily to reduce paperwork and manual error in settlement.
