Title: [ANN][WTB] Scrypt hashing power, paying 120% of LTC profitability Post by: Terk on December 30, 2013, 06:28:11 PM This was a beta thread for closed beta tests of www.clevermining.com (http://www.clevermining.com) auto-switch mining pool.
Long story short: I underpromised and overdelivered, promising to pay guaranteed 120% Litecoin profitability but surprising beta users and actually paying more. The pool is now open to everyone. Please refer to the webpage (http://www.clevermining.com) or to the current thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=448649). Original post for reference: I am developing custom altcoin-switching pool software and would like to rent some scrypt hashing power for short-term beta testing before public launch. Short version: During this closed beta period I'm offering guaranteed 120% LTC profitability, that is I'll pay 120% of what your hashing power would earn if you were mining Litecoins - as of this moment it is [deleted old numbers] BTC/day per 1 MH/s comparing to 0.00745 BTC/day per 1 MH/s if you were mining Litecoin at 0% fee pool. Reply or PM me with your hashrate and I'll send you the pool address (VARDIFF, BTC address as username). More details: You will be paid based on accepted shares and earnings will be calculated based on current conditions (Litecoin difficulty and LTC/BTC price). Payouts are daily with no minimum balance required for payout. I don't publish the pool address because I need to limit hashrate of this beta test to be sure that I'll be able to pay 120% LTC profitability from my own funds even if it won't earn me that much. I want to increase hashrate gradually while monitoring the pool so I will be providing access on a first-come first-serve basis with possible delays between people starting mining. Rigs of all sizes are welcomed. This is my offer for the beta testing period which is limited in time. As of now, you will have access to some very basic but nearly real-time stats (https://i.imgur.com/hfJ2wIj.png) to check what hashrate is detected by the pool. More detailed stats with hourly breakdowns and actual BTC earnings are coming very soon. This is a beta test so even while I think that uptime will be 100%, I don't guarantee it. You are advised to setup a backup pool in your miner to don't lose hashing time in case of any problems. If you are interested, please reply or PM telling me your hashrate and when you could start mining. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to share. The after-beta will basically differ mostly by some more complete website with more stats and probably different premium over LTC profitability. I need some time+hashpower to figure out a reasonable level - basically to check how far from real are profits that my software predicts. I think that the after-beta offer will be better than +20% and if it will be then I will match this final offer to all previous miners, so I'll pay additional premium for past days just as if the premium was at the same level from the beginning. Beta miners won't get worse offer than the final offer for sure (I think I'll even throw some bonus to beta miners as a thank you). 100M with 170% of LTC profitability,pm me if you interested Can't commit to that level of premium yet. I need a bit more time+hashpower to verify my calculations. I am sure that after-beta I will offer more than 120% (and I will top up beta testers payouts to match that final offer, so nobody should hesitate to start mining now), but I don't think it will be as high as 170%. If you take average profits of HashCows or Middlecoin over 30 days you will find that their average profitability is much, much lower than this. I believe I can offer better profitability than theirs (averaged over 30 days), but can't decide about the final offer just yet. I'll let you know when I have something better to offer than the current 120%. They all include +20% premium over LTC profitability as agreed. If I ever decide to offer bigger premium, all beta users will receive additional top up payments for their beta hashing since the start to match that new offer.

This is still quick and simple, but I hope it's enough for now. I'm more focused on under-the-hood things than on the website. For anyone who hasn't joined yet but is interested what kind of stats are available, there's a quick screenshot below. You can also see what BTC/day per 1 MH/s is earned by my users. It depends on LTC/BTC price, but in general is a stable 0.0127-0.0129 BTC. I believe that after-beta I will be able to offer better premium than the current +20%, but I really need to test with much more hashpower than I have now to be able to commit to higher level of premium. New stats are showing your hashrate and profits nearly in realtime, so you can control your results. Payments are already sent for all hashing up to yesterday and today's hashing will be paid tomorrow. Payouts are going to be daily in general, unless there will be some unexpected problems at exchanges causing troubles in converting altcoins to BTC, but even in that case I'll try not to delay for more than 48 hours, e.g. paying from my reserve balance if possible. I know this service is very new but I try to keep it as transparent as possible so that you always know what's going on. If you have any idea on how to improve service/reporting and make it more trustworthy please let me know! Also, all data for post-beta model is collected and calculated since 2014-01-04 and the post-beta stats will include this period as well. I finally finished most of the urgent backend stuff that needed to be taken care of and I'm going to deliver post-beta stats very soon! You can (and should :)) still continue mining at my pool and you don't need to change anything - the current address will still work. Post-beta will differ in two significant ways: You will earn what the pool actually earns minus my fee. This means no guaranteed minimum profitability, but also means that you can earn more than the current 120%. For example the beta period was more profitable than 120%. This generally means that if this trend continues (and I'm sure it will), you can expect to earn more. I will publish detailed stats about beta period profitability soon. Payouts will be couple of times per day and as soon as altcoins are exchanged into BTC. We are mining altcoins which need to mature, then be sent to exchanges, then be exchanged to BTC, then withdrawn from exchanges. It all takes time and this time is different for different altcoins. During the beta I was paying you from my own money without waiting for all of this to complete. Post-beta you will simply get paid when exchanged BTC return from exchanges. For some part of your balance this will mean quicker payments than now (when the pool is mining altcoins that are quick to mature and exchange), for some part of your balance the delay will be longer. The pool website will provide very detailed stats so you will know what's the status. Bonus payout for my great beta users! I want to thank you all for participating in this closed beta and for the feedback that you provided. I want to show my gratitude by sending you a bonus payout! As I wrote, the pool actually earned more than offered 120% profitability during beta period (some days were worse, but most days were better) - and the post-beta payout model will be more profitable for users. What I'm going to do is simply to apply post-beta payout model to all beta hashing since 2014-01-04. So you had guaranteed 120% LTC profitability and now you will have your payments top up to the actual profitability that the pool had! This will mean a few percent more over the current 120%. What's next. 2014-01-20 is the last beta day with current conditions (fixed 120% LTC). Then there will be the last manual and guaranteed payment after the day ends. 2014-01-21 will be paid based on post-beta conditions and will still be invitation-only. During this day automated payments module will be turned on and it will start paying exchanged balance couple of times a day. This is when the bonus payment will be sent - your balance at the start of the day will be equal to your share of what the pool actually earned since 2014-01-04 minus all your past payments since 2014-01-04 and the automated payments module will simply pay your remaining balance. During this day I'm going to test automated payments and I hope to finish the website with detailed stats and reports. You will get access to the new stats webpage as soon as it's ready. I will also need to make some performance improvements before I let everyone in, but I'm not sure yet how long it will take. It's possible that I do it on 2014-01-21 as well, but it's also possible that I will need one more day. Depending on the above, the public launch will be on Jan 22nd or 23rd and the pool will stop being invite only then. Until now, everyone was paid flat 120% of Litecoin profitability and it doesn't tell much about real profits that will be topped up once the new reports are live. The beta website with your stats and earnings won't show earnings for 2014-01-21 and further, as they are not paid using fixed 120% LTC rate. You will still see your current hashrate on the current beta website to make sure that everything works well, but please wait until tomorrow evening for the new website with new stats and earning reports. This is still work in progress and not all stats are available, but you can see actual profitability. Some highlights: 2014-01-21 was our best day ever. We had 360% of Litecoin profitability so you earned 0.026108 BTC per 1 MH/s today (compared to 0.007246 BTC which mining LTC would earn). Yay! Overall profitability since 2014-01-04 is 146%. I paid you 13.94 BTC in total for the beta period based on 120% Litecoin profitability fixed fee, but the pool actually earned 15.52 BTC during that time. The 1.58 BTC difference is your bonus payment and it will be sent as soon as the automated payment is running (I am still troubleshooting some accounting issues and haven't turned it on yet, sorry; I'll have it running tomorrow). All the final tiny details are taking so much time and sometimes causing unexpected problems and this is the reason I'm a bit late in development compared to what I hoped. There is going to be a serious money involved and I want to have everything tested in and out before I deploy to production server. The current roadmap is more stats/reports and automated payouts done on 2014-01-22. Performance tuning on 23rd and launch on 24th. Keep your fingers crossed!
