When Social media bans ICO & Crypto ads, what will be the best way for companies to advertise and inform?

Title: Re: Social media banning ICO & Crypto ads

Is this banning just bought ads or can ICOs no longer obtain a profile to post information?

As far as I can tell, social media is and has recently been banning ICO & Crypto ads. Without ads how will their information get out? The times are changing in this fast changing world!!

It's crazy how social media (still pretty new and such a big change for the internet) can be so harsh and unwelcoming of something new. I understand wanting to keep all scams out and trying to keep their users safe, but even without ICO & Bitcoin ads these social media sites still have trouble.

I believe the ban is a good thing. It will require more ICOs to build first (or partially build) before seeking to raise money. It's something we are currently doing.

Just to keep you guys updated, Bing, MicroSoft's search engine is going to ban crypto ads as well. But no brainer, as Bill Gates continues to attack bitcoin with a lot of negatives circulating in the media.

The best way for companies to promote is in this forum. You don't need to go around and even paying premiums to those social media giants just to get your ads in the page 1 of their search engine.

IMO, it'll be still through social media. But this time through users.

When Social media bans ICO & Crypto ads,
As far as I know, Facebook and Google are the only platforms that have banned such ads.

what will be the best way for companies to advertise and inform?
It's up to advertisers to choose the best place, but this forum promises an excellent platform.
reddit.com & coinmarketcap.com Are alternative places if you do not like bitcointalk.

Projects based on donations are better because of the bad reputation of ICOs

There are still many smaller social media competitors that would seize this opportunity to offer services that these giants abandoned. They are looking for the things that would set them apart from these giants and Crypto advertisements will be welcomed by them.  ;)

Facebook has been bombarded with negative publicity in the last couple of months, so angry people will leave these platforms to support the competition. The way to dismantle giants like these are to chip away small pieces at a time. The banning of Crypto currency advertisements, is just one small chip.  ;)

ICO marketing focuses too much on the ICO itself anyway. A stronger focus on the actual product or service is a workaround for the social media ban and at the same time a more solid marketing strategy.

i think it's better for all, because the projects will be promoted for the right and prepared audience. The ICO's will work harder on this forum, and will get more critic, so only good ICOs will stay alive

This banns means nothing. It is only for bought ads and only increase the need for bounty hunters.
Google already ban crypto ads, but i still can see crypto ads in adsense on website.
everything goes in the direction of regulation ICO possibilities for fraud.

If they totally ban it then obviously if you run ads through mobile ad networks, it should be ban as well.

Yes, its good to weed out the bad eggs so to speak. However, the platform has dwindled down and legit and trusted project will have to double their effort to get investors. I hope though that they can still far with other social media sites so that a project with big potential can take off.

Not a problem at all. Some projects will use this opportunity while others shut it down. For example, desearch.com. matchico.com, BitClave decentralized monetized search engine that will be finished in the future, and many others. The crypto community is strong enough these days.

1. There are many forums like Reddit.com and Bitcoin.org where you can build your community. You should discuss what the prospects of your project are and how people can benefit by buying your ICOs, what’s new in the crypto-world, etc.
2. There are plethoras of marketing agencies that can promote ICOs in a most effective way. Example, Belkin marketing, anchovy, Byzantium.
3. Get in touch with the potential investors. In order to make your project a success, you should seriously be in touch with your target customers and try to understand them. There are many crypto seminars, conferences and meetings being held across the country – so get out of your office and attend them!

There are some projects which are going to grow in the digital ads/crypto sphere. For example, Bitclave already release Desearch engine which is totally dedicated to the crypto field.

Can't deny that social media is the best way to promote ICOs but I don't think it's the only way. Newbies into cryptocurrency are more aware of what they have to do now. Instead of just Facebook and Google, they will come to ICObench or ICOdrops or Bitcointalk. All in all, the ban will somewhat effect our community but not entirely.

I think ban of ICO is not a way out. Everybody understand that there is huge crypto market and it is growing progressively. ICO could be banned on some local markets , but not totally. Even local ban will push other media to use this situation and to build another place for such ads.

It's tough luck unfortunately. But the saying 'one rotten potato spoils the whole bag' applies here. There were too many scam (https://blockogy.com/cryptocurrency/top-5-tips-identify-scammy-coins/) coins. Plus some of the bigger hacks, thefts, and frauds (such as these five key examples (https://blockogy.com/security/5-reasons-shouldnt-store-cryptocurrency-exchanges/)) haven't helped. So a few reasons they would simply ban crypto and ICO related ads:
  • Too many complaints
  • Potential for law suits
  • Putting users at risk of theft/fraud/hacks etc

I believe not all Social media will ban ICO and Crypto currency advertisements. The reason being is that, it actually makes their website filled with more people, both those who are advertising and those who are interested in those advertisements. Besides, I doubt that cryptocurrency will be banned for good because if cryptocurrency will be accepted globally, then those advertisements will also be later on accepted.

I dislike "bans" but sometime they are useful.

This was the reaction to the huge amount of ICOs launched in the very last period of time.
Many have interesting projects but I guess that in 3/4 years not even 50% of ICO s will keep their promises.
Too simple to create an ICO today

And most of all too many not expert neither serious people promoting ICOs on socials.
This needs to be a serious topic at the end of the day

The best way for companies to promote is in this forum. You don't need to go around and even paying premiums to those social media giants just to get your ads on page 1 of their search engine.

First, they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. And then you win!!

I don't know who the heck Bill Gates think he is (besides the second richest man on earth  :D). Fighting against everything he thinks is a treat for Microsoft. The guy has all the money in the world, and still... I wonder if he also thinks he's going to live forever  :-\.

And I can agree with the part where you mention that the best place to advertise your project is in this forum. I don't know if you noticed, there are a lot of projects who don't use the forum to advertise their projects, probably scam projects. Only yesterday 10 new projects were added to cmc, and only 4 of them made an announcement. Scammers know that they will probably get burn if they try to promote their shit here on btc-talk, lol. I don't even look at the project when it doesn't have an announcement threat.

Are you sure? I could have sword I heard that facebook banned ICO and crypto ads a while ago.

When Social media bans ICO & Crypto ads, what will be the best way for companies to advertise and inform?

The best way will probably be on crypto specific sites like this one to target people already familiar with the concept. Also crypto news websites. In that sense not much changes. But to target new people they might have to move back to more traditional media where historically all the advertisement was focused before social media grew into what it became.

It's going to be a difficult situation for the good ICOs. The other alternatives for crypto ads include: bitcointalk, coinmarketcap,  reddit,  bitcoin mag and other bitcoin blogs.

I don't know what's happening to Bill Gate this days cause he was once a supporter of bitcoin last year and he's now post negative comment about bitcoin. Well, bing and Microsoft search engine are not the commonly use search engine and it won't be a problem if they ban bitcoin but if they does another search engine king will arise mate.

The best way to advertise is to put your ads on a newspaper, making billboards or having a 10 sec commercial on tv, effective but a little bit costly. The best palternative way to do is to hire a campaign manager on this forum , make your project famous and let people talk about it after

I don't think the banning thing can last because it's more of a mutual benefit. Some people that have never used social media are now on them because of bounty

Title: Re: Social media banning ICO & Crypto ads

as far as I know if that happens, it will have an impact on many bounty because on the basis of social media is the right media to promote an ico. And if that happens maybe ico will be more promoted through media content / bloging / video. And payments from a signature campaign will increase sharply considering social media banned

Then this forum is the best thing for them to advertise their ICO and crypto related ads. But I think that now they are allowing ICO and other crypto related ads because on facebook we are seeing many projects promoting their ICOs. On facebook it was only a short term ban which is now not there, at the time of banning them they announced that they are not against Crypto but they are banning because to not allow some scammers who come among them. I think now they have solved the issue and now I think they filter out those scam ICOs from advertising their ICOs.

Through famous forums like bitcointalk.org or they could make at least their own website to advertise their but they really need some huge traffic that's why they will need someone that has a huge fans. Youtube and other social media account could be used because not every social media is banning crypto ads and ICO.

Facebook Inc. bans ads promoting cryptocurrency or digital currency in its social media network because it is considered "linked to misleading promotional practices".

In the official Facebook post blog, the social media company with 2 billion users is still sorting out which ads are considered misleading and companies that are not beritikad either. Ads that offer crypto products, including coin and binary options offerings, will be banned on Facebook and Instagram, which is still a Facebook subsidiary.

The more popular crypto becomes more and more crowdfunding/advertisement sites specifically for cryptocurrency will spring up. We already see that with sites like coinschedule, cofoundit, icobench, etc.

Banning ads will have a negative effect on crypto initially but I believe it's actually a good thing. With all these bans alternatives will be provided for crypto community to be doing what they do best and once they get used to this provided measures then crypto becomes stronger again. Which ever way and what ever is thrown at us we will prevail.
