Title: CGMiner - how to stop difficulty increasing?

Hello everyone,

I want to make an experiment. I want to keep my cgminer to mine with difficulty level 16, as it is when it starts... It quickly goes up after that ( I have a 3 x 7950 Sapphire mining rig).
Is there any way that I can tell cgminer to keep the difficulty level at 16 even if the pool wants to adjust to a higher number?

Any help will be greatly appreciated...  :)

As far as I know, the answer is no.

You have to understand though that the "difficulty" that a pool tells you to mine is different from the actual difficulty of the coin itself.  Really, the difficulty the pool gives you just adjusts the amount of work you do before returning results.  Giving you a low difficulty when you have a high hash rate means that you're banging the server more frequently, asking for more work and returning results, which will greatly increase server loads, which can kill your pool.

Lets say you could, and CGMiner was submitting everything above 16. Your pool wants to mine at 24, and would pretty much just ignore everything in that 16-24 range.

The only way to keep at 16 is to set your pool to a static diff, not vardiff.

So if there would be a tweak on the cgminer end, which would submit at difficulty of 16 for example all the time, but the pool is expecting a higher diff value, then are you sure that all the shares submitted with 16 will be ignored?

Yes they would be ignored as they don't conform to the pool difficulty and would be rejected.
