Title: problem with pciex1_3 slot with my motherboard Post by: shaharov on December 30, 2013, 09:21:14 PM hi guys,
i have gigabyte's motherboard (model ga-f2a85x-up4 ) and it seems that the pciex1_3 slot doesnt work (pci-x 1.0 , the 3rd slot). the other 2 works , but specific one - 1_3, is not working. does anyone have this problem before? and maybe have a solution for me? (maybe update bios and find some specific attribute to change?) thank you in advance. Do you use risers? Are they with molex? How many cards are connected? As far as I know if you connect a lot of cards to your MB you should use a riser with molex otherwise there is a chance that yours MB will be damaged. And IMO you can connect up to 5 card to a "standard" MB. I've read a lot of stories where 5th or 6th card didn't start even using riser w/ molex. Happy new year! thanks for your reply :) i tried to plug some card, with molex to slot pciex1_1 - success. i plug the same card, with the same cable, to slot pciex1_2 - success. tried to plug it to slot pciex1_3 - fail. that without trying to plug other cards... any ideas ? :O (damaged mb?:( ) happy new year Title: Re: problem with pciex1_3 slot with my motherboard Post by: Guhaaa on December 30, 2013, 11:50:11 PM Are something has been plugged into pci1_1 or pci1_2 when you have trying to use pci1_3 w/o success? (Other words: are all of the pci1 & pci16 already in use) If so I guess that your MB can't handle so many devices. It's common issue.
Sorry for my bad english I'm russian :D Title: Re: problem with pciex1_3 slot with my motherboard Post by: shaharov on December 31, 2013, 12:15:04 AM i tried varius thing
- everything plugged - everything BUT pcie1_3 unplugged. - plug something to pcie1_1,pcie1_2,pcie1_3 , and leave the pcie4,8,16 unplugged -pcie16 and plcie1_3 plugged. the rest empty. and so on. nothing works. i start thinking that something in the bios says to the mb "disable pciex1_3!".
