Title: Badges Post by: theymos on December 31, 2013, 06:55:38 AM I added a system of badges to SMF a while ago, though only two are defined now. Here are the current badges:
A core dev does not "outrank" a bitcoin expert (or vice-versa), and it's possible for someone without a badge to contribute meaningfully to a discussion with experts and core devs. Title: Re: Badges Post by: whiskers75 on December 31, 2013, 07:25:29 AM Oh, so here's the documentation for badges, finally ;P

Without patting myself on the back, I am an expert in the establishment of corporations which can maximise the amoutn of money the holder gets to keep. I have personally established well over two hundred corporations, mostly for internet marketers but also for real-world brick-and-mortar establishments. I know how to keep a secret and can tell others how to operate in such a manner that no one without a properly issused supoena can find out what the corporation is actually doing. I also know how to move around money in legal ways in order to get around certain restricitons which might otherwise complicate matters. I can construct Scrypt miners because of my personal experience as a hardware guy, experience dating from my time as an amateur radio operator starting in the 1960s. Don't ask me how to install CGMiner or any other program; I probably can't do it. You want a miner built, I can do it but someone else is going to have to program the thing because I won't even try! I can't read or write three lines of code because I am Dyslexic as Hell but can tell you how and where to set up a corporation in a tax haven. Go figure................................................ I rely on people who are professionals in that sort of thing. I am a Money guy, an Idea Guy and a Promotion Guy. People such as myself are needed and have a place in the world of crypto and there are a surprising number of us out there with I think, with much to contribute to the community. Just a few thoughts and best wishes for a very happy New Year! My $.02. ;) Title: Re: Badges Post by: Quickseller on February 18, 2016, 07:36:32 AM The Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) Who/how many people have this badge, and what are the thresholds to get it? I know that NLNico has this badge and I know who read through the whole SMF source code to find security issues, which he then reported to theymos and SMF itself. That's all I know. Who/how many people have this badge, and what are the thresholds to get it? Title: Re: Badges Post by: jacee on February 20, 2016, 03:11:50 PM in the future will there be anymore new badges being added to the forums? As in new special awards but make them extremely hard to acquire would be cool to see something new. I think the badges was meant for the people that actually contributes to the forum as they are the ones who really are doing a job in here so it's not jut a case of it is cool to see more badges. Leave it to the expert and let's just see how many more people will get these badges and let us members see that they are the ones who keeps this forum running perfectly for us users. Leave it to the expert and let's just see how many more people will get these badges and let us members see that they are the ones who keeps this forum running perfectly for us users. The badges here are meant to people that know Bitcoin or are core developer, not people that contribute to discussions. Someone might be inactive in the forum but get the badge. I think more badges are unnecessarily and would cause more harm than good, there are other priorities now |
