Title: KncMiner Saturn underperforming
Post by: tex4ever on January 01, 2014, 10:57:18 AM
Hi guys, I got an Saturn (October Batch) and it is underperforming -> running at 240 Ghs, but it should have 275 GHs.
It is running with the firmware 0.99.1-tune

I did:
- downgraded the firmware to 0.98.1
- hard reset
- enablecores.bin

Nothing helped. Do you know what I can do else?

Thank you guys!

All ASIC Miner are specified with optimum Gh/s +/- 10%. In your case if the optimum amount is 270-275Gh/s, you calculate -10% and you are still within the specification.

Hairsplitting...or would you go on and complain knc about 3Gh/s missed?  ::)

Well to be honest if I buy something and I have varranty that it WILL work within specific speed, and it does NOT, then at least I would like an explanation why, or other kind of assistance :)

October loves when it is  hot. What is your temperatures? Go up to 75-80 C when check again.  ;)
PS bertmod helps  a lot with diagnostics and without any harm.

All KNC love it hot, even my jupiter. If the temp going under 50 degree i lose at least 10GH/s, if over 60 run smooth and perfect with 680Gh/s instead of 650!

Hi thanks to your replies. Well about the heat: My ASICS has 45 degrees. How can I make them more hot? Disable the fans?

Well the miner is at home. Room temperature is about 20 degrees.

You work with open miner, or did you close the case (not sure that your knc has a case for close as mine)

If i open or close my case the temperature difference between 5-10 degree.

The latest firmware allows you to tweak the voltage per die per asic.  Hit their support forum and read about it.  Many October owners are struggling with this.
