Title: Newbie needing help
Post by: FoXzig on January 01, 2014, 05:47:38 PM
I've just started using GUIMiner v2013-13-03 at Slush's pool and have a couple of questions.

1. It's using a lot of my CPU, is that supposed to happen?
2. I'm getting about 245 Mhash/s with my GeForce GTX 780, is that good?
3. Any tip on how to improve the mining? :)

I'm thankful for any help you could provide, thanks.

1. It's normal that mining uses a lot of CPU
2. This depends on lots of factors, but a lot of people say that it's pointless to mine with less than 1Ghash/s since mining got a lot more harder than it was before
3. The only way to improve mining in my opinion is to upgrade your graphics card or buy those devices that people sell for mining, even though I wouldn't recommend that

I started to mine weeks ago, but I gave up since I had low Mhash/s and I won't upgrade my graphics just because of that.
Hope I helped a little! ;)

Yes, depending on your intensity level, much cpu will be used along with the GPU.  You can try tweaking your mining software but it won't help too much.  Upgrading hardware is best bet as far as I know.
