Title: Bitcoin miner advice
Post by: ccliffe on January 02, 2014, 10:53:37 AM
Hi,

I am new to bitcoin and am trying to gain as much knowledge as I can before getting into mining.

I have a friend who lives in Asia who tells me he has seen cloned and working and replicas of such miners made by KncMiner and Hashfast. The only difference is that the miners cost around 20% less. I am suspicious as with paying with bitcoin I have no guarantee so wanted advice as to whether making a working replica is possible. It sounds too good to be true to me.

He also tells me they will be available to purchase over the net within the next year? Is this believable or complete nonsense?

Is this guy an actual friend, or somebody you just met on the net? I'd need more details, but I'd operate under the if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is rule.

Yes, he is a good friend. I have known him for over 20 years and he has lived in Asia for the past 5 years...

Yeah, maybe he is being scammed or fed false info, or maybe it is true, best to do further research. I've seen friends inadvertently scam other friends because they all thought they were getting a good deal by buying stuff from bulk in China though.

Nearly every site out there selling mining equipment is a scam.
